We got our travel trailer in June. We went on a great trip to the Destin, FL area. It was very enjoyable. We are looking for a highly recommended campground around the central or northern region of Alabama. Does anyone have any suggestions? (tx)

One of my favorites is the Noccalula Falls campground in Gadsden Alabama, for a city run campground it has all the amenities of the best campgrounds and more! There's a train that you can ride all day around the park and see wildlife and buildings (ala the Great Smoky Mountains), many sites are full hookups and the scenery is beautiful, here's a link to their webpage: http://nfcampgrounds.homestead.com/
I found this for you in a post search in campgrounds hope this helps.:D

We have always enjoyed camping in Alabama. Have camped at several of the State Parks in the state and also, some great Army Corp of Engineers campgrounds. One of our favorites is not in the Northeast but more West Central at Foscue Creek Campground, near Demopolis, AL We have friends hosting at DeSota S. P. near Fort Payne. Haven't been to Joe Wheeler S.P. in awhile but when we were last there it was very nice. Lake Guntersville S.P. is being rebuilt after the devasting tornado that hit there April 2011. I believe they are adding sewer to the sites now that most of the trees were leveled.
We would like to welcome you to the forum and wish you many happy camping memories.

We live in Alabama and camp around the area. Our favorites are the Corp of Engineer parks (COE). Info and reservations can be found/made here.

We have been to the following COE's in the state;

Burchfield Branch in Adjer
Chilatchee Creek in Alberta
Deerlick Creek in Tuscaloosa
Forkland in Forkland
Foscue Creek in Demopolis
Jennings Ferry in Eutaw
Millers Ferry in Camden
Priarie Creek in Lownesboro
Six Mile Creek in Selma

And there are many others. Will be glad to answer any questions you might have about the parks we've been to. I can recommend what we feel were some of the best sites too.
