Have a Cougar 25RDS and noticed my Hercules commercial trailer tires state on the sidewall “These tires can only be mounted on rims with a load capacity not less than 3200 pounds” My wheels state 2860 max load. Is this a significant and do I need to do something about it? Probably have 10,000 miles on this setup.

What tire size and load range? The tire should have a statement that says max load of xxx at xxx psi, what is that? Just from two statements the tire is not matched to the wheel and would need to be run at a pressure under the max.

Thanks for the reply. Just what you referred to was helpful. I went by storage today and the tires say max load with dual axle is 2680 lbs at 95 Psi. I run these tires at 70 psi. So I guess I’m ok since I’m not running at max load.

that statement is for DRW truck application, your tandem axle is a single wheel for tire loading. My guess is that the single application would be close to 3,000# ea. at 70 psi you are likely fine, although it would be nice to know the axle weight on your trailer.

Correct single is 3080. Not sure on axle weight. The trailer is 6,000# dry, up to 8000# loaded but not sure that’s what you are looking for. I Too think I’m fine but not sure I fully understand yet. Thanks though. Super helpful.

Have we ever established the tire brand, size and load rating ??? I can't say that I've ever encountered those load weight/pressure numbers with any of the ST tire sizes so are we even talking about a trailer tire or are we talking about some other type tire? Maybe a LT tire since it's got a "single vs dual tire rating" ???

Hercules all steel ST225/75R15, H-901. Says “for trailer use only” max load single 3200#. I always thought they were pretty beefy tires.
