Value of Tires

Just replaced my Trailer King ST235/80R16 Load Range E tires with Sailun S637 215/75R-17.5 Load Range H's from trailertiresandwheels.com.

Very happy with the new setup and had a great experience with TT&W.
Now I am planning to sell the old wheels and tires. I am trying to decide what would be an appropriate price. The DOT stamp on the tires is 3814 (Mid-Sept 2014 manufactured). It seems like they might have a couple years life left, but I was not willing to make our FL to CA trip on them.

What would you suggest I try to get out of them on Craigslist? Would $500 be too much. I have the 4 + 1 spare / wheels and tires.

X2..definetly. From the history of these ties, I would not feel right pawing these problems to others knowing less. Must be a use for shredded tires

That is a good question, I am planning on replacing my Rainiers before I go out again and was wondering if it would be right to sell them to some one else seeing all the negatives out on these. If I don't trust them then what.

To be honest with you if are replacing them because you don't feel they are safe for you and your family I would leave them with the tire shop. JMO

I have 4 Tow Max tires sitting in my pole barn that I took off my Cougar when I upgraded to Carlisle RH tires. I had intended to keep them as spares for the flatbed I use to tow my tractor to the dealer for service. Well, the tread on two of them was delaminated from the tire carcass, so there's only two tires for a 4 tire trailer... CHANGE OF PLANS !!!

Now I'm "stuck" with 2 bad tires and 2 "probably OK" tires. I could try to sell the good ones, but I wouldn't feel right about selling them, knowing that the two were bad. I know how I'd feel if someone who was trying to get a bargain (and couldn't afford the cost of new tires) bought them and then had a problem that cost him even more money....

So, I wouldn't even try to sell the tires. We all can "pretty much assume" that they are "at least inferior" even if they aren't "dangerous".....

Now as for the wheels, new Sendell 16"/8 lug wheels are selling on Amazon for about $80. So, I'd think $50 each would be a fair price for them, and if the buyer wanted the tires as well, I'd just give them to him and consider that I didn't have to "haul them to the dump".....

So you buy new tires because you don't trust the old worn out ones and you expect to get 500 for them? So it's ok for another family to buy them thinking that they can go on a nice long trip with them like you as long as you have the cash in your pocket? These are junk and they should be sitting in the tire shop pile to be recycled. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I don't think they cost $100/each new. Like you, I replaced with Sailun's.
I simply dont trust trailer king loaded to 90-95% of rated capacity. Mine had only one trip on them (trip from the factory to the dealer). I had no reservations about selling them at rated load range.

I'd never pay $100/tire for them. I think I sold all 4 for $250 or so..

I too upgraded... to 17.5 tires and wheels. Sold them on Craigslist for $50.00 each. Advertised as "15 inch wheels" for sale, tires on the wheels were free!

Told the happy purchaser why I was replacing them, and would not trust the tires! He "said" he just wanted the wheels, as he had regular steel ones.

Ran my Trailer King tires 5K mile in 18 months and sold the 4 of them for $125. Fellow put them on a 16ft car trailer.

Wait a second... I did not put out a $500 value, someone on here suggested that number. I seriously doubt they would fetch that amount.

I told you what I had and asked what you thought they were worth. If your opinion is nothing then feel free to state that. If you think the wheels have no value, then state that. As someone else mentioned, in my opinion it is a buy the wheels, get the tires free kind of deal.

However, if your opinion is that I am a scumbag for trying to find out a value then you are placing your anger in the wrong direction.

Try going after the entire RV industry that thought it was appropriate to put these on my rig in the first place. And to put them on almost every other rig rolling off the line. Try being angry with tire dealers who will recommend these to their customers. Remember someone sold this crap to me to start this mess. And if I leave them at the tire shop, they will sell them for more than I will without bothering to mention the DOT dates, the estimated life of ST tires, or any other words of caution.

However if someone can throw them on a utility trailer and run them around the farm at low risk, than at least someone gets something out of it. Or if someone uses the wheels and buys new tires at least the landfill suffers a little bit less.

The self-righteous bit wears a little thin when someone asks for assistance.
