Hi everyone, I have a 2018 Cougar. Like many others I have the rotten slide floor problem. My trailer is scheduled for slide floor replacement. I have looked at lots of You Tube videos on this problem and how adding slide skis will help prevent water from getting in along the bottom edge of the side walls. My question is that all the slide skis are built for floors that have an upward tapered leading edge. My subfloor leading edge is tapered downward. So my current plan is to simply cut off the tapered end of the slide ski and attach. Do any of you have any experience with this issue? Also I find slide skis that are 2.5 inches wide and one that is 6 inches wide. Which is the best choice??

I ended up purchasing both the 2.5 inch and the 6 inch slide skis. Then let my dealer help me decide which to use. The 2.5 inch was a slightly thicker/slicker material. Dealer felt that was the best choice, so we used that one and I returned the 6 inch ski. So far all is well. Slide goes in and out better than it ever did. I also replaced the factory carpet with the new woven vinyl mat material that keystone is now using in current production. We love that change.

You want the one that is as wide or wider than the rollers the slide rolls on.

Sidebar: The "skies" will not stop water intrusion. They are designed to be a hard surface for the rollers to roll on, instead of rolling on the material attached to the underside of your slide.

With that in mind, before attaching the skies, make sure the bottom of the slide is sealed adequately from every direction so no water will intrude in the future. Then.... add the skies.
