Is there a certain way you are supposed to run the straps that are attached to the floor through the chairs for the dining table? Or do you just run the straps through the best way possible and tighten them down?

Mine won't reach over the seat so I run them through the rungs. We just bought 2 new chairs to replace the 4 original.

we installed a couple of D rings on either side of the credenza (with a drop leaf table) and lash them down with ratches straps

Wrap the strap around the chairs any way you can. There are no correct OR incorrect ways to do it. It's just ... don't cinch down the straps like you are tying down a load a lumber in the back of a flat bed trailer. That type of force is not necessary. It needs to be just tight enough the furniture doesn't move around, not anchored like it's fixed in concrete. Too much tension and you can actually damage the furniture by breaking a leg or a rung. Or pulling the D-ring out of the floor.

We only use 1" ratchet straps and just tighten them enough to keep the chairs from flopping around.
Worked for the last 4 years with no problems.(y)
Safe travels and all the best.
