We're going from Seattle to Albuquerque this October to see the hot air balloon festival. We don't want to be on the road too long, but we also don't want to knock ourselves out with 500 mile days. We may stretch the Rule of Threes (300 miles, arrive before 3:00pm, stay 3 nights) - I don't mind doing the occasional overnight then back on the road - because we do have a hard deadline with our reservations. Rather than just map the shortest route is there anything between here and there that is a Must See we should put on our bucket list? Last year we went to Texas for the eclipse and our big Must See was the Grand Canyon. We want to see Zion this time but we may do that on the way home so we can linger. I'm looking for things that we can see along the way without needing multiple days each. Thanks.

Lake powell and then the monument valley area.it might be a return trip item as it would be on your way to Kanab.

So far Bryce Canyon is our favorite. All of these National Parks through Utah and AZ are beautiful so you can't really go wrong.

The cool part about Monument Valley is that a lot of it is visible from the highway, so you can enjoy it twice.
