Sailun or Carlisle or Synergy tires

OP, you stated in your original post that "the Goodyear tires are worn out"... You're the second owner of the trailer. It was manufactured in 2014/2015 and you bought it in 2022, when it was 8 years old. So, the Goodyear tires on the trailer are probably not the OEM tires which would now be 10 years old.

Why do I post this ??? It's probable that the Goodyear tires on the trailer are not the OEM tires and it's "POSSIBLE" that they are not the size called for on the VIN/weight decal on the trailer. If they are 16" Goodyear Endurance tires, they are not "LRG tires"

So, exactly which "Goodyear tires" by size and weight rating are currently on the trailer??? Two possibilities: They are the wrong size/weight rating or they are not ST tires. Either way, if your trailer calls for LRE or LRF tires, you can "upgrade to LRG" but that's going to not be the standard tire called for by Keystone. There is a possibility that if the current tires are Goodyear, they may be LT tires or the wrong tires....

Before buying new tires, I'd recommend you verify what tires are currently on the trailer and what does the VIN/weight decal call for ???? You sure don't want to install Goodyear Endurance LRE tires if the decal calls for LRG tires....

225x75x15 Goodyear Endurance on our 25RDS Cougar. Have been great since they replaced the Trailer Kings that are on my utility trailer now! Didn't know what a Sailun brand tire was when I saw them on the Fuzion toyhauler we had in late 2014. Turned out to be some great tires even though Chinese made.

Just an FYI, as John mentioned, the Carlisle brand name is no longer on tires made by that company. Calstar is on the sidewall. I just bought four new Calstar Radial Trail tires for my camper. I have 15 inch rims so my input on tires for a 16" wheel are not very important but I wanted to mention that if you do see Carlisle tries sold, date code may indicate they have been on the shelf for some time. My tires have a date code of 5124 so they are pretty fresh These tires are again LRE.
THAT… is my worry about all of them if Amazon or any other mail order. (do they call it mail order anymore) is why I want to see them first. Checking with with Discount tire, Goodyear endurance could not get them with out “ordering”@ $510.00ea. + bal, + disposal fee. So I’m asking NTB to make sure mfg date is within Jan-March/ 25. For Sailun. $173.00 ea. I don’t know what the tire pressure should be but my sticker says 80 PSI. So I’m going to check the rims. ( I’m sure I missed it when I went looking)

It is odd that NTB & DISCOUNT TIRE does not carry S637 in H (16ply) L (75)speed rating. 123/127L. But wal-mart sells them on line. What is up with these national tire stores do not carry these?

I’ve worn my Goodyears down and it has been suggested Synergy because lots of number of dump trailers etc has success. ( because they sell a lot) I don’t think that works for our 36’ Keystone Impact 235/85/16 G or M rating ( if they have M). But Amazon has S637/Sailun but can’t find a speed rating above 75. (L) 4400? Load, The other posts I see is “Carlisle”16 ply? ( I’ve had them on my truck) 16 ply (synergy16) I priced Goodyear @$2,700. & $3275.75 For 4. Another tire dealer suggested TransEagle?. Does anyone out there have more input? I read a comment that Synergy or TransEagle works well as a rough use tire. The difference is that RV tires roll for a day or several, then sits for weeks or longer so they are not a good pick. So any feedback is appreciated.
I have Sailun tires on our 5th wheel Montana, and they have performed spectacularly! On our 5th year, 60,000+ miles, and when I went to replace them with new Sailuns the Sailun rep. said to wait another year or two as I still had lots of tread left. How good is that?

The Goodyears Endurance has N speedrated, but do you want to drive 87 mph . Maxload of 4400 lbs , same as Sailun G load, but both are given the 4400 lbs maxload AT 110 psi for 65 mph.
So in fact no difference if you drive maximaly 75 mph( and wont go over for even a minute.

What are your GAWR's ( I assume tandem axle trailer) and GVWR.
If tires have comfortable reserves now, you can mayby switch to LT tires, but mostly they are more expensive.
Then same size AT 110 psi 3750 lbs maxload, but calculated for 160 kmph/ 99 mph. And better tested and resistand to ply-shear.

And LT is allowed on traveltrailers and 5thwh.
Airsteam nowadays often use LT as OEM tires.

My opinion, if Goodyears got you this far, stick with them. Sticking with a Goodyear dealer will totally avoid falling into the Chinese Tire trap. Plus, if you need warranty support, there are Goodyear dealers almost everywhere.

Sailuns are chinese tire bombs in my opinion with apparent good marketing. I have had 2 "unannounced" blow outs, first on an unknown brand and the second a sailun. Didn't hit anything, no warning just an explosion. Tires were less than a year old, at proper pressure, not overloaded, and being monitored with TPMS. Fortunately no damage to my less than year old Raptor. I'd suggest Goodyear Endurance. I would not put china anything on my RV if there was any other choice.

I run Hankook 14 ply on my 34 ft. Alpine Fifth Wheel, speed rated at 87 mph. Sixteen in wheels, paid $1100 for four mounted, balanced and installed. Been running them for a year and doing great.

Yep, I’m sure Goodyear will supply great service snd quality just as they did with their Goodyear Marathon tires.
At this point tradition suggests I remind viewers that this statement was made tongue in cheek. We should choose to ignore lives lost and millions of dollars damage caused.
I’ll stick with the Sailuns.

I decided to buy Sailun some because of the speed rating & reviews @14 ply, my rims will Take the PSI. when I look at Goodyear mfg on line they are $350+ ea, or about. But when I call a tire retailer they are $520. + cost to get rid of my old ones + mounting+ taxes. So I’m not.

The fact I did not point out, is when we looked to buy this unit, I saw the ChinaBombs, I told them NO if they didn’t put New Goodyears with mfg date within 6 month of purchase date I would not buy it. They kept their word, even the Spare was ( is) new. Never been on the ground. I think the axle weight 5120. But the tires are mfg size recommended.

I have about 45000 miles on these, no issues.

Sailun is probably the top pick around here but Carlisle is also a good tire. I have had both (G rated) with no issues and good mileage. In my mind they are both every bit as good as Goodyear. You should be able to get the speed ratings and loads on line. I don’t go much faster than 65 cruising, or maybe 70 to pass, so a 75 speed rated tire is good for me. My 5er is 41’ so you should be good to go with either one.

Purchased Sailun tires for my ToyHauler last year. Been very good tires for me.

As of April 1, 2025 it is apparent that NTB cannot get Sailun tires that are DOT (??/25) first tire arrived mfg. (01/22) second one (10/24) not many are sold here in the area. I declined them. so Carlisle will be the tires I hope to get all within 4 mo mfg. date. I insisted on the mfg dates to be within 4-6 months. The NTB person is working hard to get me into /25) there has to be an easier way, or a smoother process.

Better order up some Advantas then.
Actually the salesperson mentioned that tire. I recall reading your post but I was on the road, and couldn’t recall??? Where till now. I’ve not heard back at this moment. Do they offer tire hazard? Or is that just offered by the dealer (?)
