Checking in, as some of you might be aware of the severe storms last few days.
Rolla, MO was hit with extremely high winds and small tornadoes.
We are doing OK here. Lot of damage around us, and we are without power since 8:00 PM Friday night.
So many areas in other parts of Missouri, and Southeast are doing much worse.
We spent some time in the closet as the storms went through.
Lots of tree limbs down in our yard.
But we are extremely lucky, as there are several houses close to us with major damage.
We have our 5th wheel in the back yard, so I got out this morning and de-winterized it.
So, we have a gas stove, and gas water heater and 12v fridge.
We can eat, take showers, etc.
Solar panels will keep batteries charged, so should be good.
Saturday 3-15-25
Still no power for us.
Power crews have been brought in from all over to help get things back up and running.
Sitting in our 5th wheel watching a movie now.
Went out and purchased a good inverter generator, we have plenty of power in the trailer now.
Can probably go a good 4 or 5 days like this before I would need to find a place to dump the tanks.
Sunday 3-15-25
Driving around town today, there are so many houses in lots worse shape than we are.
Some are damaged to much to stay in. At least we didn't have any damage at our place.
From the amount of damage, and power poles down it may be a few days before we get power restored.
Funny how these spring storms are. Some of it looks like it may have been a small tornado.
But a lot of it was just straight line winds. Several semi's turned over on the interstate close to us.
But go a block away, and just a few limbs down in the yards.
We were the lucky ones with just a few limbs down. House just across the road had a very big tree come down and block the road. Saw several big trees down onto houses and going through roofs.
A few vehicles crushed by those trees.
Missouri highway patrol is reporting 12 dead in the state.
No fatalities here in Rolla though.
Comfortably camping in our backyard for now.
