We picked up a 2023 Cougar 23MLE and loving it!
First post here, glad to be here!

The model came with the Ashley reclining theater seats that are manual recline, has usb charge, lights, massage and heat.

I’m finding that when reclining (which is quite difficult to push back) the only way the leg rest stays up is when the chair is fully reclined, practically prone.

If you bring the back of the chair to not be all the way back, the leg rest doesn’t hold and falls down.
Are these recliners made to hold the leg rest only when it is fully reclined flat?
Are there any adjustments that are needed to allow the leg rest to stay up when partially reclined?

Many thanks in advance for any insights and experiences.

We have an expensive recliner couch in the house and the leg rest does the same for me but not my wife. I think a diet might fix the issue in my case. Not sure about your situation. We have microfiber recliners in our camper and the foot rest stays up nicely for me. Think it may just be the basic design (engineer weighed 114 lbs?).

We bought RecPro "Charles" recliners for our Cougar to replace the "Pleather cracking OEM recliners". Like yours, the footrest does not stay in the up position in the "partially reclined position" but does stay up in the "fullly reclined position"...

I hadn't thought much about it as the $1500 leather recliners in the S&B do the same thing.

To me, it's a nuisance, but not a game changer... I've never heard of any adjustment to the mechanism, RecPro doesn't address any adjustment, so I'd suspect "it is what it is"....

That said, if you do discover some way to adjust the "folding foot rest issue", please post it as I'm sure there are probably more people "living with it" than there are "not having the problem"....

We had a recliner in the house that the foot rest got tired. Took a look under it and found a broken spring. Found close match Amazon that wasn't quite as strong but did OK for the short term. We were going to replace the recliner anyway so we got a new one with the built misuse and ejection seat.

A lot of designs rely on (compensate for) the weight of your body on the chair's upper back to balance the mechanism to neutral (otherwise, it would always tip to full recline). So if you try to position them halfway reclined with nobody in them, they'll close again. I imagine the exception for full recline is just to make it easier to work under them (repairs, vacuum, etc.)

The Ashley recliners are reasonably comfortable, but they are a rear bare to recline in and maintain a position. They need a redesign.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. It seems like it is what it is. I’m thinking we will investigate swapping the couch for a power recline that fits in the space.

Some of the power recline sofas and chairs use a "spring assist" to lift the foot rest. On some of those, the foot rest always "will fall to the floor with heavy weight on the foot rest. Some, this happens even when in full recline position.

So, "test drive what you want" rather than buy it sight unseen based on measurements and a "sales brochure description"... You may find that the foot rest is "easier to fall" than what you currently have.....

We have a 2022 22MLS and don't have this issue.

The Ashley recliners are reasonable comfortable, but they need a major redesign. They need to be fixed so that you can get the footrest out and still be relatively upright.

I can see a new set of recliners in the near future. Ashamed that Keystone put such sorry reclines in.

Has anyone replaced a cup holder that controls the heat, vibration, lighting and usb charging port? Where did you find a replacement and any how to do videos?
