Howdy! My wife and I have scoured the RV manufacturer web sites for a layout that will work for our family, and can't come up with anything that will beat the https://www.keystonerv.com/product/alpine-avalanche-edition/luxury-fifth-wheels/floorplans/378BH

I've seen a few threads here with concerns about Alpine/Avalanche quality, but they were 4-5+ years ago. Does anyone have any good/bad stories about buying from that line in the past couple years? I know Keystone seems to be a little hit and miss on quality (we have owned a Keystone Bullet 308BHS for 5+ years; it has had its issues).

I'm also happy to go with another brand; I just can't find a bunkhouse layout that works for all of us (9-10, depending on who goes on the trip). :)

Thanks for any input!

Generally you will find a little hit or miss with most brands...it's just the way it is. Even Brinkley can have issues. I have a friend that has a '21 Avalanche and really likes it. He had a couple smaller things to correct early on but nothing major.

The specs for that camper say it is 16500 lbs gross weight. The listed pin weight is just over 3000 lbs and I find that to be almost hilarious. The pin weight will be closer to 4000 lbs and add in the passengers in your tow vehicle and hitch... you had best own a dually if you plan on safely hauling that 41' long beast. Just tossing this out in the event you haven't thought about it. You must take a couple vehicles when you pull the camper with that many camper peeps. Good luck.

As was said, all RVs have issues. I don't think Keystone is any worse than the other brands and better than more than a few of them. One thing they seem to have from my wandering through them, reviewing countless floorplans etc. of their and other manufacturers units is better, usable floorplans and the way they execute them. Was seriously thinking I wanted a Solitude? (I believe it was a Solitude) but on the walk through the cabinets were placed right under the rising roofline of a 5th wheel. I could not reach up and touch the door handles! Silly I thought.

Also, I won't buy anything I've not seen and checked out. Some of those "issues" that people find in a new RV are caused by a dealer. They many times scavenge one trailer to repair another then stick something back in the empty hole of the other one....may be right, maybe not. Might fit, might not. So be aware and lay eyes on anything you intend to buy.

As far as the Alpine/Avalanche models I've been in parks and talked to owners and haven't heard any real negatives I recall. I'm sure there have been some somewhere with somebody but they would have to speak to that. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them as long as I had the opportunity to go over them closely prior to signing the dotted line.

I have a 21 Alpine 370 FL and really have no complaints. Its parked all the time so maybe not a good example as does not get beat up from towing. Only issues and a big one is never ever expect any warranty work done at Camping Word (even if you bought it there). And if you have to call Marcus its the end of the world!!
