New to a 5er

For many of my younger years I was completely oblivious to tow weights, payload, etc. Safety was more about being a good driver. I was ignorant of the different ways that overloading can be harmful.

So, is ignorance "Bliss"? or is it dangerous?

We were fortunate that we didn't have any mishaps. We also weren't towing the much heavier rigs that are out there now. But still, once you know this stuff you can't get it out of your head and responsible safety demands that we pay attention to it.

I think the OP went away...choosing dangerous ignorance over safety. Too bad. With a rig that big and heavy, it could cost him.

Safety back then was only going 74 miles per hour when the speed limit was posted at 65!

Hey, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he is out right now shopping for and possibly test driving a brand new F350 DRW 4 wheel drive King Ranch! Iconic silver with a factory hitch frame mounted under the bed and every bell and whistle he desires.
:whistling:

We used to have a saying at the old gasoline factory when Bubba did something stupid.
Why did he go out there and do that?
“He didn’t know, or he didn’t care”
