Welcome to the forums and congrats on getting your new Cougar. My experience with my first 5er was different than Camping_family (above poster). It took me a couple years to get the hang of backing up the fifth wheel, having never experienced a fifth wheel before after over 50 years of bumper pull trailer experience.
Hitching? I find it, actually, a bit more challenging. My tow vehicle is a long bed, crew cab, dually. I cannot see the inside of the bed from the drivers seat at all. I had to learn how to make markers to guide me. Where as, with a bumper pull, I always had a back-up camera on the end of the truck.
The wide (dually) fenders make it impossible to reach over the bed rails to reach the fifth wheel hitch to pull to unhitch or to hitch. Plus, connecting the brake-a-way cable is impossible to reach anywhere in the bed of the truck to hook up. This was solved by carrying a 4 foot step ladder all the time. My truck bed is so high, it's near impossible for me to climb inside from the ground, so the ladder serves multiple purposes.
Anyway, for some, a fifth wheel appears to be easier. For me, I've found that both bumper pulls and fifth wheel have their unique differences and challenges. I personally do not think fifth wheels are easier, they are JUST different!
Anyway, enjoy our new camper and truck and I hope you have great success and many happy adventures with it! (Just be prepared to experience a learning curve with a fifth wheel if you never towed one before).
