Cougar half ton, on the right side, passenger, in storage bay you have an awning switch, TPMS prep, a switch for storage area light, and next to that is a switch that doesn’t seem to do anything. It’s wired, white and orange pair. I would have that it would be awning light, but no. Any one know. Camping World, two people didn’t know. I told them I’d call Keystone and they said Good Luck. OMG.

Agreed, it is the dump valve light. On my walkthrough with my Cougar no one was able to tell me what the switch was for on mine, so I had to educate the tech on what it was. As the tech was repeatedly flipping the switch on and off and not seeing anything obvious, my cell phone rang (spam call) but I jokingly told the tech that it was a little old lady in Germany who's closet light kept going on and off and asked him to stop it. Not many people know or care that there is actually an amber colored light up under there (in all my years of RV ownership I don't recall ever having the need or want for a light in that area), but that is what the switch is for.

I first became aware of it on my Passport when I was tracking down why my battery was draining after a week, and found that a circuit was mis-wired and that light was staying on all the time. In fact, it was that very issue that led me to this forum back in 2019. At least now the light is LED so if left on it won't drain a battery nearly as fast.

Thanks everyone, prior to reading the post I found the Keystone wiring color code chart, very helpful, that the orange was exterior lights. Pulled covers off and tested voltage off and on. Was stumped. Found my little amber lights. I guess it’s the engineer in me that asks why would they put that switch on the opposite side of the dump valves. 🤔

Previously that little light was tied to the awning light, so anytime you had the awning light on, the dump valve light would also be on.

Great idea, but wondering if you could run the power up the wall by the door and add a switch on the panel where they have spares. Would want to turn on and off from the door rather than storage bay.
