Does anyone know the axle rating on the Half-ton Cougar 27SGS? I am right at the weight limit pf 10300, but I only have 8100 on the axles so my pin weight is 2200. The literature says 1500 pin so I assume the axles are good for 4400. I have min water onboard and was trying to decide how much more I could add.

I am maybe 500 under max vehicle of 11500 on the truck(and under each axle loading so not worried about the truck.

BTW I have a F-350 diesel, a fairly popular truck. Wonder how all those other bigger fifth wheels are doing on those 1 ton trucks. Overloaded I might guess.

it should be stamped on the axles or a sticker directly on the axles…also should be listed on your VIN sticker i believe…if it were me and i was loading heavy regularly id consider upgrading the axles…i believe a few different members have done that lately…the interior layout of most rvs doesnt really lend itself to balancing the load either…you very well may have a lot more weight on one side of the axle due to a heavy slide, refrigerator and stove and possibly pantry all directly over a particular side of one axle….if it were a boat it would likely list to one side

You will find a "Manufacturer's Certification Label" on the front right (roadside) corner of your trailer. It will look similar to this and will have the axle weight ratings along with other information. Additionally, your axles will have either stamped information regarding weight ratings or will have a label affixed to the axle beam with the information on the label.

Typically if the axle was say, 5200 lbs the Manufacturer's Certification Label will list the axles at 5,000 lbs. They usually stay just under the axles ratings.
I would recommend upgrading as a rule. Just like tires it's good policy to go at least one rating higher as the manufacturers install the bare minimum on these trailers.
My trailer has a similar rating to yours at 10600 gross. On the scales I was at around 8,000 on the wheels and 2120 on the pin.
I upgraded my axles from 5,200 lbs to 6k axles. The 6k and 7k axles use 1/4 inch thick tubes verses 3/16 inch tubes on the 3500 through 5,200 lbs axles. If you tap on the 5,200 lbs axles with a wrench they emit a ringing sound and the 6k axles it's more of a thud.

You should update your signature as it lists a F150 not a 350.
