My 2025 Keystone Cougar half-ton 25FKD came with the Lippert Auto Leveling System. Do I need to be unhitched from my tow vehicle all the time to use the system. What if I'm going to be parked at walmart just for the night, do still need to be unhitched, to use the trailer? Specially due to having bed and living room slides.

You can certainly use the system to manually stabilize your trailer, but need to pay close attention to what you are doing to your tow vehicle and hitch. Do not use the auto level mode.

The system is not made to lift the truck and trailer. We get as level as we can then use the manual mode to stabilize and make fine adjustments. You want to be as level as possible to use your slides so they don’t bind.

RacerX, thank you for the response, so if I got it right. I can manually stabilize my RV while still hooked up and "DO NOT" use the auto level mode. I appreciate it.
Different topic, have you upgraded your Solarflex 400i yet? I have the 440i.

I agree, and reiterate; do NOT use auto level, stabilize only! I also suggest a LevelMate or bubble levels to get as level as you can before you park for the night.

When we sold our Passport bumper pull last year, at the last minute I decided to remove my LevelMate Pro before selling the camper. I didn’t think I would have a use for it since we had the leveling system on the new 5th wheel, but I was wrong. Now, at a glance I can gauge my side to side level and use leveling chocks as needed to get level side to side, then manually lower the jacks just enough to stabilize if I am going to stay connected.

What Bulldog said…. Yes. The key is to get as close to level before using the leveling system in manual mode. You highlighted DO NOT AUTOLEVEL perfectly in your response but just to emphasize: I like to think of the Lippert system as just for stabilizing not leveling when I am still hooked up.

Re solar upgrades: yes and no. I have not added any solar to the roof, however I am using the expansion wiring in our pass thru to connect an additional (networked Victron) solar charge controller to the batteries. I added an Anderson connector on the outside for the deployment of my portable panels (320 watts rated) should I need to deploy them. This keeps the charge controller locked in the pass thru: closer to the batteries and also under lock and key, so slightly less likely to walk away.

Advantage of the portable panels is they can start catching sun at lower angles in the morning or late afternoon when the rooftop panels are less effective. Disadvantage is they need to be deployed.
