New owner, very newbie. Noticed yesterday when dumping fresh water prior to putting in storage for a couple of weeks that there is a Drivers side, 1/3 way down from front, under the coach, grey handed dump valve in the open position. It moves easily between open and closed. Trailer has 4 season weather package so the bottom is sealed up. The other black and grey levers are in a convenience center on drivers side rear, about 3/4 of the way down the coach.

Did some internet research, apparently my 76 gallon grey water tank is 2-38 gallon tanks, one for front kitchen, 1 for shower/sink in bathroom. Makes sense.

Nothing about this was discussed during my walkthrough. It is going back in the shop after shakedown in April. I will bring it up then along with a few other things. Until then...

Do both the 38 gallon waste tanks have sensors?
Should the default position of the tank valve be open to allow for load balancing of grey water, or closed?

Yes, the total gallons you have read will be 2 38 gal. tanks. Your sensors are usually indicative of levels per tank. You don't state the year of the trailer but if you have In Command, which I refuse to have, I don't know how that function is operated. Always keep your grey tanks closed until they fill. Otherwise you will accumulate LOTS of stuff in the drain hose you don't want - did it once, threw away the slinky hose when leaving.

Our 2024 Cougar, which thankfully doesn't have InCommand uses a standard analog panel as well. Our panel (I suspect yours is almost identical) has levels for Battery, Fresh water, Black 1, Grey 1, Black 2 and Grey 2. We have 2 grey tanks and 1 black tank so Black 2 always reads empty.

We have two cable operated valves in the wet bay for the 2 bathroom tanks and a pull handle for the kitchen tank towards the center of the camper underneath. Thankfully all 3 tanks share a common sewer outlet. This makes it possible for me to use a twist-on termination valve on the sewer outlet and open both grey tank valves to expand holding capacity since the kitchen grey tank tends to fill many times faster than the bathroom grey.

Thanks... this helps... I have the same control panel and my "wet bay" is a convenience center cheap plastic door. lol But answers my question, thanks!
