2021 Cougar 5th wheel. I pulled my hot water tank to inspect source of a water leak and inadvertently pulled the wires loose at their wire nut connections to the rv. As luck would have it that is where the hot water tank and rv wiring changes colors. Can someone help?

This exact thing just happened to me. I know it's an old post.

Red heater wire stayed connected to the brown rig side wire. Everything else pulled out of the connectors. Too large of a connector was used on these wires.

Did you ever resolve it? I know the rig side the brown is the switched lead for the gas and the orange is the switched lead for the electric. Clueless as to what the other 2 are.

What year, brand and model of water heater do you have?

The RV side of the wires "should" be:
18ga. White - Water Heater Ground
18ga. Brown - Gas signal
18ga. Orange - Electric signal
18ga. Pink - Fault signal

You should be able to reference an install manual for your brand and model water heater and match the appropriate wires to each other.
