High winds

With all those trees to break the wind you will probably be just fine. The only thing I would worry about is the tree that appears to be right above the trailer. It does however look healthy so probably not a big deal.

Edit: Oh, and welcome to TX!
Thanks we have been here for 3 months now lol. Some thousand trails are nice then there is the ones like we are at now.

How did it go in the wind? Hopefully well. It hit here and blew all day - 65mph and couldn't see for the sand, dead debris from the farm fields, little branches and pecans falling out of the trees. If I had been in the RV in a place like this I would have shut it down, pulled everything, stabilized it and spent the day in a hotel. Of course we live in flat, open, barren country surrounded by brown fields. Why anyone would ever retire here I have no idea - one would have to ask DW :scratchhead:.

I'm hoping in your situation the trees cut the wind and we usually have winds more severe than where you are. I know that when we are in FL and the wind blows 40mph it's like a gentle breeze because all those huge trees break it up - but you can see and hear it in the tree tops. Hope all is well.

Same here... I asked DW just the other day (while we were looking out the back windows at the lake, through 6' of snow that hasn't yet melted) whose "brilliant idea it was to build and move up here.... She just glanced over, looked at me with a "scornful face" and turned back to watching the snow melt" (or not melt).... I often wonder why I moved up here, had to buy a $30K tractor with a $6K snowblower plus a $1500 gas snowblower for the little stuff, not to mention building two pole barns to store the summer stuff for 6 months and then swap it all out and store the winter stuff for the other 6 months....

It would have been so much easier to stay in south Louisiana where we never had to cover the pool (just fight to keep moccasins and alligators out of it).... Ahhh those things we suffer through for the sake of love <sigh> LOL

It went surprisingly well though I was nervous. Being in the little enclave of trees with the truck in front blocked everything really. Barely noticed any rocking.

Thanks for checking in

Isn’t there a wall of tornadoes tearing through that area currently. I know Missouri

Getting a reliable "local report" is pretty sketchy, but from what I can see, the only warnings in the Alexandria LA area right now are flash flood warnings in low lying areas... There's places around Alexandria that flood with a heavy morning dew, so that's not something I'd worry too much about. Now, if there are tornado warnings, then we'd get to use that "safe room" we had built in our house. 10x10 reinforced concrete, no windows and a steel reinforced door. When we were building, the contractor asked us about it, we at first thought it was foolish, but after thinking about it, with the hurricanes, tornadoes and potential for wild fires, it made sense to have a place to ride out bad weather. It only added about $1500 to the construction costs back then, so we added it to the list.

When we first retired I told DW that I would not stay in this place year round. Don't do what I did; ended up with this place (DW ain't gonna move), a mountain home, a lake home and an inherited home. Disliked it here so much I wanted to be able to go "somewhere else" when this wore on me too much. Well, didn't take long for me to realize that the upkeep on that many homes, in that many different environments and my continuing aging along with all that brings made it not only hard to keep them up but made me detest them as well - so I sold them all but the main house. Now, it's the RV we use for a change. I can leave when I want. Go where I want and only have to deal with the upkeep of the RV

Don't know what the winds were where you are but saw an updated report today that the winds Friday topped out at 81mph from the NWS per the report. The 65mph came from our local "guesstimator" weather people.

Lake Whitney should be OK in weather like that due to the hills, trees etc. Sort of like Brownwood where I always said you don't want to be on the tops of the hills as a tornado skips through - they don't drop into every crevice.

The storm front crossed through Tallahassee early this morning where DD lives but didn't do much damage. Looks like it did further north though. Hopefully it's offshore by tonight/tomorrow.

So far the wind must be breaking before it gets to us because we haven't noticed anything too bad. I think being inset in the trees and the truck blocking the front of the RV is helping. I am more worried about the fire somehow making it to us than the winds at this point.
