Freshwater tank issue?

I have a 2002 keystone cougar fifth wheel model 281 EFS.
My hallway where the bathroom and bedroom is is totally soaking wet is it my freshwater tank because according to the sensor it's full. I am hooked up to city water and I am permanently placed. How do I switch from city water to freshwater so I can run the sinks and shower to empty it?

The tank should be below the floor level, so the issue could be that the pump backflow valve has failed and it is allowing your city water to fill the freshwater tank and overflow the the gravity fill or vent pipes. I would simply go underneath the trailer and open the freshwater tank drain and let the water out. Alternatively, you could just shut off the city water at the hose connection and then turn on the water pump at the control panel switch and operate the pump. Either way, if you don't plan to use the pump, I would add a valve to isolate it and prevent it from back-feeding again

I believe the 2002 Cougar 281EFS has a similar floorplan as my 2002 Cougar. Rear kitchen and fresh water tank is in the rear of the camper. Leaking into the hallway may mean a pex fitting under the tub or bathroom sink is the culprit. Suggest you open the access panel in the hallway across from the clothing closet which gives access to under the tub and pex fittings that connect the shower and bath spigot. If the leak is not there, move to under the bathroom sink. Check in the passthrough as well as there are pex lines in there.

Where is the control panel switch? Also on my wall in kitchen it shows the levels of so the tanks and on that it has a pump on and off switch, is that the pump switch i need to turn on for fresh water?

That panel has already been removed previously for something or the other. Anyways I'll look when i get home to see if it's leaking etc. However my kitchen is in the middle of my camper along with living room. My bedroom is located in the fifth wheel area. At the other end is a bunk room. Thank you

To fill the fresh water tank, there is a rectangular shaped deal at the rear and on the driver side. It has two inlets. One has a garden hose type fitting; probably a rubber cover that needs to be pulled and there is another to the left which is basically an open fill port to fill the fresh water tank. I seldom use the fresh water tank except in the winter and then need to use my pump which is on the kitchen control panel. It is a rocker switch next to the water heater switch for gas operation. I leave the water pump off if connected to city water via a garden hose. It is a great idea to use filters for city water connection and a pressure regulator. Max pressure would be about 50PSI if you are in some campground with very high pressure.

Thanks, I'll turn city water off (i have water filter to) then turn on "pump" and hopefully the fresh water drains through grey tank. I also have a gallery tank bc i have a galley switch on that panel. May i ask what in the world is a galley thank for? Thanks a million!

Oh i do not know what a pressure regulator is or how to install it and use it. 😇

Oh yeah i will have to look again however I'm almost sure i only seen one water port outside on driver's side where city water is connected i could be wrong I'll look when i get off work. As for my water heater im not 100% sure of it's location but the access panel to it outside is directly behind where built in closet And drawers are. I absolutely can't access it without ripping out those built in drawers.

The galley tank simply refers to the grey tank for the kitchen. A lot of camper jargon comes from the boating world; shore power, galley tank, etc.

Resa83 welcome to the forum. Reading this thread might I suggest quoting the post that you're answering. It makes it much easier to follow that way.

I thought i was quoting as I've selected quote each time. Sorry

I have turn the city water off, turned on the pump and turned on kitchen faucet and bathroom shower. There's no longer water coming out as I've emptied the fresh water tank!
However all of my sensors are now going crazy the ones that were empty for gray water now says it's full galley tank now says it's empty I'm so confused maybe my sensors are broke

You have to click on "quate" in the post you want to quote. Then in your reply click on insert quote then choose the quote in pop up windows. It's clunky but easy once you do it a few times.

One action should not affect the other. Did you drain the gray tanks after running the fresh water tank down?
