Forum Update - We're back! Ask your questions here.

Go to the banner at the top of the screen and click on the envelope icon. A drop down appears with the last few conversations (previously called messages) and at the bottom of that box you can click on show all or start new.

I just wanted to explain what's going on to make sure you all understand why we are doing this. In the past, each forum was it's own set of code and it's own database. That meant we had to keep up 20+ different codebases and database.

The login system had a thing called SSO but that didn't really add much value and caused more work than it was worth. The new system just has a single login which helps make the experience for people better.

The new system will allow people to respond to more things in the RV LIFE ecosystem like reviews, photos or speedtests in our campground directory, at a later date it will allow you to vote/up down trips in our trip gallery and basically make logging in and communicating between members more seamless.

It will also allow us to get more Keystone owners into the conversation. We plan to find ways to encourage more Keystone owners to join the conversation as we will be able to connect their RV LIFE Garage and the right forum to get answers. So if they own a Keystone we can post it here and get more owners engaged.

We will be able to add features and improve the community. The old software was ancient and because of that we froze our investment in building add-ons knowing the day to switch was ahead. Once we get converted and address the various issues and housekeeping tended then we will be looking at improvements for the forums. To be honest, this is really an exciting time for the community as I feel that looking back in some years we will be very proud of the work we have done and a continued vibrant community.

We are sorry about the username change and please reach out via PM if there is something we can do to update your username to one you like better.

With all due respect …who are you?…… i know this post i’m quoting wasn’t for me but how many new mods are involved with this new forum template?

I saw one the other day “ tech admin” and now you? also are you saying that i was originally only on one forum with a small number of members and now im part of 20 different forums?…..how many members are we talking about?

Who sees the posts on this forum? does it go across all the forums or just the actual original members on here?

And if i am a part of a bunch of different forums could you please list them all here so i know if im a member of some weird obscure forum that i probably wouldn’t have signed up for

a quote i saw in a speech today has me thinking….”If you aren’t paying for a product ….you are the product”

what originally seemed like a small little forum that would limit my overall exposure on the internet seems to have morphed into something much bigger…… I sat on the sidelines and listened to the advice given by the members and got a good sense of the people before i joined this ( the old) forum….
Maybe i’m wrong and correct me if i am but i have a bunch of new advertising and it just feels different

feels like my local little coffee shop where i talked to the “regulars” everyday was bought up by a franchise chain

Thanks John …interesting… I guess i always thought i arrived at a destination with this forum …in reality i think i just took a seat on a train…who knows where it will end up
Yep. Social Knowledge, LLC has a significantly larger internet presence than this forum. Here's one place to see more of what's available: Social Knowledge - Online Community Network Not only is there the RV and Travel Trailer group, there's also a Marine group and an "Assorted Group". Essentially, you're a part of 1/3 of the whole. I don't believe you can log into the other groups with your membership here, only the RV part of Social Knowledge.... So, you're a "DeFacto member" of even more than you see in the RV Life forums....

You are on the same train as before. We are not some big MegaCorp. I started Airstream Forums and Janet was a mod. Over the years we spent a lot of time learning the ropes on fostering forums. We work with each community to make sure it's run by peers. So Janet oversees our teams on each forum and then each forum is run by Admins and Mods who are owners of that particular brand. So the Winnebago forum is run by Winnebago owners and Airstream Forums is managed by Airstream owners.

Here was the announcement from back when Courtland passed the torch:

Thanks for being a big participant in this community. Don't worry about any big changes ahead. This software was the big change but it will ultimately enabled us to to keep making improvements.

Thank you for responding…I do enjoy talking and interacting with the people on this forum and i appreciate the work all the mods do to keep things humming along…

And i do understand the business side of it…..the fellowship aspect more then makes up for it i guess…thanks again

Actually, it's only the RV forums that are moving to this shared backend setup. Maybe one day we will replicate the setup for our marine forums, so they can have a single backend too. No plans to mix them.

I'm the founder of Social Knowledge and over the years we have adopted, acquired and rescued many forums. At our small business, many of the folks who work were people we met through the forums, at rallies, etc. We are basically a scrappy little company built by RVers for RVers.

I use Bing.com and Brave as my web browser and I have accept cookies until I close the application activated. Brave also blocks ads wonderfully.l

Anyway, when first entering the site, I always get the little box, "Keystone wants to know your location." I usually just hit the "X" in the box ... (no response).

Then I'll hit the "log in" button and log in. As soon as I log in, the "Keystone wants to know your location" will pop up again. Although I'm getting use to this now, it's a bit annoying as the box use to only appear one time, when first entering the site.

I keep "location" on my laptop turned off and keep cookies to delete when exiting. This one way to keep from being constantly tracked. "Brave" is very good at this.

Anyway, it didn't use to work this way, nor do any of the other RV Life forums. The box appears once, .... close it ... log in .... done.

Is this a "test" someone missed in development.

I'm just passing it along. Thanks!

This forum is looking good!! As a former Jayco owner, I was surprised that my Jayco information (from their forum) was appearing here but now I can see what the dealio was. No big deal - updated my info, and I'm ready to rock and roll here! Nice job!

Awesome! You can still log into the Jayco forum to say hi to friends, the login is the same one you use here to make things a lot simpler. :)

Is there a way to delete a post we made in error? For example; I made a post and then went back into to edit (rotate) the picture, but it went back into a second post so now there is a duplicate. I cannot see any way to remove my extra post so I "reported" my duplicate post. Hopefully that is the way it is done?

Rob did you try the delete tab under the post when you pull it up to read it? I've not done that and in fact don't know that you see the delete tab. If you can't I can delete the duplicate.

Danny, I don't have that function, so if you could delete the post for me I would appreciate it!

Rob, Marshall beat me to it. I was in the shop trying to cull all these pecans so I can take them to the sheller Monday. A thought crossed my mind as I sit here and haven't looked; could you use the edit function to erase it all? I've not tried that either but sure I will sometime here in the near future.

Thanks for the help guys! I did try using edit to delete all the text but it will not allow a blank post to be saved. I will just have to be extra careful in the future.
