I just had the 48,000 btu Fogatti water heater installed by an RV dealer. It works but I'm getting an Ec code and can't adjust the temperature settings or even turn it off at the display panel. An Ec code means there isn't enough propane pressure to light the pilot light. But it turns on and heats the water. I tried resetting the heater but I still get the Ec error code. I found out the both of my propane tanks were empty. I got new tanks and it still gives the Ec code. Anyone else have this issue?

I started looking at dual regulators on Amazon. Someone had commented that they had trouble with their tankless water heater until they replaced their regulator. Since our passport is 10 years old, maybe it's just time to replace the regulator.

I had my RV Tech check the propane pressure and it was low... Even with brand new propane tanks. He adjusted the regulator and could only get it up to 10.5 columns of water when it's supposed to be 11 columns of water. I will be having a new regulator and hoses installed soon and hope it fixes my issue with the water heater.

Where did he measure it at?

On edit: looking at the fogatti manual, it states it will operate at 8" WC.

The EC code on your Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater - Gas - Automatic Pilot - 41,800 Btu - Black # LSB44FR means the pilot light tried to ignite but could not due to low gas pressure.

If the control panel is displaying error codes then it is working and need not be replaced. The panel itself is not a replaceable part as is.

The unit needs an 11 inch water column, 11"WC, to ignite. I recommend getting a licensed technician to come look at it first.

Did you read the link I posted?

I just did. I will be at the camper this weekend for a week. My RV Tech didn't go inside and check the panel to see if the heater was working properly after adjusting the regulator. If the pressure was at 9.5 w.c. then the heater should be working properly according to the manual.

The new regulator didn't fix the heater issue. Me and my RV Tech got on the phone with Fogatti. Walked through all the troubleshooting steps and still didn't fix the issue. Fogatti is sending me a new display/control board. I'm hoping that' will fix the issue. Ugh! If it doesn't, I really don't want to replace the entire heater.

I can certainly understand now wanting to replace the entire water heater, but.....

It's much better to replace it now, if there's a problem, rather than wait until the warranty has expired and then find that the problem gets worse and the unit stops working.... After the warranty, it can get quite expensive with no factory or manufacturer support to pay the bill.... Granted, this situation is an "inconvenience" but at least the costs are covered.....

Yay! I was finally able to install the new control board that Fogatti sent me. Install wasn't too hard. Just unplug this, plug in that, unscrew this, screw this back in. Just take a "before" photo for reference later. Everything is working fine now. I'm so happy I didn't have to return the heater for a full replacement.
