Have issues with rear ac not starting up after it cools down . When calling to restart it won't startup. Have to shut it down and then restart. Wondering if I can just replace the gateway in the rear unit or replace in both units.

After it cools the rv it shuts off. Sometimes it comes back on when it calls for it needs cooling. Sometimes it won't start up. You have to shut it off for minute and then turn it on and it will startup and cool.

If the year and make of your RV was added to your signature it would help others to help you with future questions, etc

Regarding the gateway ( which brand of AC ) are we dealing with ? Dometic uses one style of gateway and Coleman uses a gateway with a Netzone controller

In your case it appears the gateway relays aren’t waking back up to tell AC unit to turn on once temp is above your setpoint
** the Gateway is the actual thermostat for the AC unit

This could be due to outdated softeware ( if controlled via In Command ) a bad gateway box, loose or corroded connections on the gateway itself

** Dometic also has a service bulletin out on certain gateway boxes that won’t turn the AC or Furance back on after shutdown but this was due to temps being below 40 degrees or above 100 degrees

2019 3401rs keystone alpine with dometic whisper quit with heatpump and with incommand control system. Don't always come back on.

The AC units ( both ) are Dometic Blizzard NXT series... They are each controlled via a gateway box that you will find when you go on the roof..

Remove the AC cover and you will see a black Styrofoam cover.. remove it and now you will be looking right at the EVAP coil section along with the wires that are stuffed down into the duct.

The Gateway box is right there stuffed down inside the duct... Reach in and pull it up and reseat all connections on the Gateway ( plugs )

** Disconnect battery power and shore power FIRST before reseating all the plugs you will see on that gateway.

Reconnect power.. By removing shore power and 12VDC battery power you have also performed a "hard reset" on the In Command system.. as well as the gateway itself which resets the relays inside the gateway

If the issue continues I would be looking at replacing the Gateway box ( very easy plug and play )

* edited to add PDF on gateway connections, dipswitch and EOL resistor

I have 2019 with 2 dometic AC's and the In command system.
My rear AC does exactly the same thing but only when the "air dump" register is closed and all air flow is through the ceiling ducts. If I leave the air dump open it works completely normal, always. Also if I switch the fan to high from auto it will continue to work properly.
It seems the units evaporator ices up when the airflow across it is reduced by forcing all of the air flow through the ceiling ducts.
So in my case the in-command system is doing what it is designed to do if the evaporator in the AC freezes up. It is designed to lock out the AC when a freeze up of the evaporator is detected.

It's a simple test to try before you change the gateway. If you try this and it works you could then try moving your freeze sensor up a little higher on the evaporator. Or you could try replacing the freeze sensor (thermistor) , I believe it's only only around 10 bucks or so.

Not saying for sure yours is the same as mine but if leaving the air dump open mitigates the problem it's most likely the evap coil freezing up and not a problem with the in-command.

I have same problems with my new Forest River the Furnace will start upon turning t/stat to heat. When it shuts off it wont restart without removing & reinstalling fuse. They say t/stat is bad and a new one on the way. It’s works fine with AC on. Will see if a new t/stat fixes the issue

Thanks I'll try that.
