Does anyone else have a noisy trailer that squeaks and squawks as you drive. It's loud and sometimes I get the wrath of other campers.....

Depending on your hitch, you could have two or more "squeaking/screeching parts"....

First, most sway control hitches "screech" when the bars slide in their mounts. There are cushions/inserts that can help for most hitches...

Next, if your trailer has the OEM suspension, then the spring/shackle bolts and bushings are probably worn and rubbing "metal on dry metal" which sounds like an old buckboard rolling down the road.... Install a wet bolt kit with bronze bushings and upgrade the spring shackles to heavy duty ones as well. Most would probably recommend the Morryde wet bolt kit with HD shackles. Once installed, almost everyone who upgrades will comment on how quiet their trailer is with the kit in place.

^^^^What John said. You probably have a combination of both issues. You don't specify what year your trailer is but those suspension components wear VERY quickly.

Don't forget the cross member supports. Mine sounded like a squawk box. I just installed suspension kits and new tires.

Lubricants will quiet most squeaks, that said wet bolts and heavy duty shackles will solve most lube issues.

Not to hijack the thread but.. how would I select the proper Morryde shackle kit with wet bolts? They seem to have about six different models... it looks like some are for rigs with Correct Track (whatever that is, I notice it's also the title of this thread but not otherwise explained) and some aren't. There are clearly some for fivers, but still multiple choices for TTs. I tried eTrailer's "match it to my year and model" but it didn't seem to remove any from the list, much less narrow it down to one. How do I select the proper kit for my 2019 Cougar 26RBSWE?

SKIP eTrailer's site to determine what you need. Go to this Morryde site: Heavy-Duty Shackle Kit – MORryde Click on "TECHNICAL SPECS" tab to access the chart. There you will find a chart that will indicate specifically which kit you need for your trailer suspension. The "major difference is whether you have LRE or conventional equalizer suspension. Unless YOU added a LRE system, it's not used by Keystone. Then you determine the shackle length. As far as I know, Keystone only uses 2.25" shackles. So that leaves only two choices, conventional equalizer with or without correctrack. The other choices are tandem (2 axles) or triple axle trailers.

If you have or plan to install the XFactor crossbrace system, then it comes with a longer wet bolt to accommodate the XFactor mounting plate on each of the spring hangers. If you are not using the XFactor, then everything you need for the wet bolt installation comes "in the kit" (everything except grease and the tools needed to jack the trailer, pull the old bolts and bushings and install the new ones... There are hundreds of youtube videos to get that information and there are at least 8 or 10 threads on the forum with very good documentation on "how to"..

Correctrack is an added kit that mounts on the forward spring hanger with a "stop sign looking disc" that will adjust the suspension to help align the axles and prevent abnormal tire wear. It was used by Keystone for several years, but I don't believe it's currently being installed on any Keystone brands. Might be, but I don't know of any 2025 brands with the system.

This video is self explanatory:

Thanks. Looks like I measure the shackles tomorrow just to make sure, then make my order.

I didn't think of using YouTube for advice... I did try the forum, but the search here isn't very helpful as it insists on matching ANY term instead of ALL terms. If you look for

install morryde shackle

you get every post containing ANY ONE of those terms. To do what you need, you have to perform the search from your search engine and specify site:keystoneforums.com .

Thanks for this. I see from another video that the Correct Track stop signs are not tiny, and very visible on both the inner and outer sides of the spring, so I'm pretty confident I don't have that. I verified the 2 1/4" measurement.

I ended up ordering from the manufacturer website, because their shipping was about a week faster than Amazon's (Amazon was estimating delivery the day before my mobile tech appointment, too risky), plus it was a buck cheaper! :bdance:

Squeaking Trailer

Likely your sway E2 hitch if this is what you have. They work on friction and will be load at times. I've read that some put Grease on the bars!!!!! Do not do this! Sure the squeak will be gone but so will you anti sway function and you will have a very dangerous situation

This is what my suspension links look like on my 2018 Carbon. Glad I changed everything to "wet" bolts. So much better. It squeaked like crazy before. Now silent !
