Backup Camera Install Gone Wrong

We have a 2021 Passport 221BH which was not pre-wired for a Furrion camera. I planned to mount our camera above the middle clearance light towards the top of the camper. I pulled the light, fished around a bit, felt like I could install above it, drilled a 1/2" hole and hit metal (oddly with am existing smaller hole in the metal).

For the time being, I mounted the camera in place of the center clearance light and as a very quick fix just duct-taped the 1/4" hole that goes through the metal. I'm reading that all three clearance lights are "required"; do I really need to move the camera below the light (I was concerned about the wireless signal strength being compromised by the roofline)?

More importantly, what can I do about the hole I drilled, how do I patch this? Should I just silicone this shallow hole and call it a day? It's small and high so it will be fairly "invisible".

The roof rafters in a Passport are metal, and what you hit was the rear-most one. For what it's worth, I would never mount a camera above the light if you ever intend to use the cameral in low light conditions. For what it's worth, the factory preps I have seen are all located below the marker light

@NH_Bulldog thanks, that makes sense. My rationale to putting it above the light was to ensure the roofline didn't obstruct the signal/antenna, but I'll relocate it below and see how it goes.

Any insight into the best way to patch the hole I drilled? Should I just fill it with silicone, given the placement and size (dime) I don't think it will be too noticeable. Or is there a better filler to use and a way to color-match it?
