Atwood range igniter.

My Outback has a match light Atwood range. Can I add an igniter system? Is there a kit someone knows of. Thanks

Are you talking about adding a sparker to just the cooktop or the oven too? It might be possible, but a good old Aim-n-Flame is probably easier and more reliable than most spark igniter systems.

Your oven should already have a pilot light that you can "dial to on or shut off". You can buy the igniter wiring harness, piezo electric "sparkers" and the "twist knob" to install on your range top from any Atwood parts dealer. The part numbers all on located on the parts list for your specific model stove. If you look at the backside of your rangetop, the front panel is already stamped with the hole for the "sparker knob assembly" and is covered by the decal that is applied to the entire panel. All you have to do is use a razor blade to cut through the decal to install the sparker knob.

I did that to our range on the Springdale and also to our Cougar. Back then, cost was about $40-50. Truth be told, DW uses a propane lighter most of the time as it's faster and reduces the smell of propane from "twisting that damn knob" to get sparks that usually work to light the burners.

If your "heart is set on having the sparker" I suppose it's worth the effort, but from my experience, it isn't nearly as reliable as the "automatic ignition sparkers" on a home style gas range. I think DW, for the most part, quit using it after about 4 or 5 camping trips of complaining that the sparker isn't working, where's the firepit thing at..... So we just put a "firepit thing" in the top galley drawer with the silverwear and she's a "happy camper again" ..... I'd say, think long and hard about wasting the money and time trying to get things installed and "the neverending quest to get the sparkers aligned correctly"... For us, it isn't worth the angst to keep it working....
