Any idea on what this is...

Eventful trip. Water Heater board goes out, had to change to my spare and we found this rolling around after one of our stops. For the life of me I can't figure out what it is! Any ideas?

It a short metal rod that looks like it was spot welded on either end

I had a similar piece rolling around one day. The best I could figure, it broke off the Thomas Payne pull out bed / couch in the upper living room. When pulled the bed out I examined the metal and it was a near match with some of those small supports holding up the seat cushions. I never did figure out "exactly" where it might have broken off though. My couches still function fine.

If your water heater has an anode rod, it might be a piece of an old one.

FYI, anode rod center is very small diameter wire.

Could it be a piece of a slide roller assembly? axle that the urethane rides on?

Well the couch it is...the corner pieces are there but there was one support welded to the center of a cross member (missing)...pics attached.
