Amber door light wire diagram?

I have a keystone Springdale 266 RL. The rear door (main) with an amber light above.
The light just stopped working. I have checked the fuses, use the voltmeter on the switch and it has voltage (to and from). I cleaned the bulb socket and tried replacing the bulb with new one. There is no voltage to the socket.
I'm wanting to trace the wiring. I'm hoping to find a schematic that will show. I don't know if the wiring goes up and over the door or underneath.

Keystone considers wiring and plumbing diagrams proprietary and do not release outside their factories. Dealer techs cannot get them.

Welcome to the forum :wlcm:

Pop the lens off and check the bulb. If it’s good then remove the screws holding the light fixture and check the wires.

I’m thinking bad bulb or ground.

You won't find any wiring diagrams or schematics on any Keystone trailer. They simply don't release them to the public (or to their own dealer service departments)....

I have found several defective switches through the years. If you've checked the socket and bulb and have no voltage, I'd work "backwards" to the switch.

Pull the trim molding from that 3 switch panel, check the input of the porch light switch for power. If you have 12VDC into the switch, when you turn it on, you "should" get 12VDC out. If so, the simple next check is to see if there's 12VDC on the other end of that wire (at the connection behind the porch light fixture. Possibly corrosion, a broken wire or a bad fixture ....

We can get into more complex tests like using an alternate ground at the fixture, but I'd start with the simple stuff and see what results you get.

Agree with Chuck. The wire does not run uninterrupted from the switch to the light. There will be a connection behind that fixture in the wall. That connection may be broken or corroded.

As I stated, I did check both sides of the switch. Both sides of the switch did have power.
Thanks in advance

Yep, Step 1, then Step 2 then Step 3....... YMMV

I had a similar problem with my Keystone Montana. Voltage checked out just as yours did. Long story short, I found that the contact in the fixture for the bulb was just corroded enough to not make a connection. Cleaned that up and we had light. I’ve since found other outside lights in the same shape.

On our Passport, we had an oval exterior light with an integrated switch on the front of the trailer to illuminate the hitch area. I didn't use it too often, and 9 times out of 10 the light wouldn't urn on when I flipped the switch. I took it apart and found crusty contacts for the bulb and the switch. Cleaned them up, applied a bit of dielectric grease and never had an issue again.

I just did the same thing with the oval "behind the pinbox light" on my Cougar this weekend. They do get "crusty" if you don't use them often, even if they're sitting in storage, inside a pole barn.
