Adding 2nd A/C unit

Hello everyone! Here's my dilema. I've got a 2020 Keystone Cougar 27SGS. It's got 50 amp service from the factory and prewired for the second unit. When I looked inside the ceiling it appears I have lateral duct runs. The only outlets I have are on the left side and there are only 5 of them. 3 in the main living area, 1 in the bath and 1 in the BR. Should I not have some running down the right side of the camper? I'm needing to add the second unit but am thinking about non-ducted so our bedroom will be cooler. I just can't imagine both units dumping into that small duct with 5 outlets. Obviously we want the quietest one we can find. The main unit is a Dometic and is hooked up to the InCommand. If I go with a non-ducted unit I really don't care if it's hooked up to the InCommand or not. Sound level is more important. Thanks

I put in a second unit but just went non-ducted. We only use this when the grandkids are in the bunk room on hot nights and when we get to a place to cool the trailer off very fast. They are a bit noisy (er) so not sure I would have done this in our main bedroom as I prefer the unit outside the room and ducted in.

Thanks. I'm worried about not ducting and the noise. But I'm just as concerned about the number of air outlets. Last week in Florida our 15k unit couldn't keep up. I have to get the second one, I just want to make sure I do it right.

When we added a 2nd AC ours was also prewired for it in the bedroom. I wanted it to be ducted into the main system. I prefer it because it benefits the entire coach. It feels to me that a 2nd AC triples the air flow through the ducts.

Like yours, ours couldn’t keep up in hot weather…not even close. Since adding the 2nd AC we’ve had no trouble at all keeping the rig comfortable in 100 degree weather.

Our preference is to run the LR AC at night if we need to cool down the coach. It moves plenty of cool air into the BR without the noise being right over head.

Ours has the racetrack ducting…so a double run of ducts front to back. Yours might not have that. It might be the S track where it terminates on both ends with just a single run through the ceiling. You could run a borescope through it to make sure.

If you needed more ceiling vents it’s possible to add a couple. Our rig is a little longer than yours and has 11 vents. It seems to me that if your rig is prewired for the 2nd AC that the duct system should be able to handle it. Just an opinion FWIW.

Borescope revealed two lateral ducts. Rear A/C dumps into both but only the left side has any outlets. I think I'm going to go all out and do the gateway and everything so it's hooked to my InCommand. Thanks

We've got a 2022 Cougar 26rbswe. The single Coleman 13.5k couldn't keep up in AZ last year so I just added a Furrion 18k chill cube to the front. It's ducted and awesome. If you wanna dump the air into the bedroom you can open the dealio on the unit and boom. I didn't worry about linking it into the in-command. It's got a badass remote control with a thermostat inside. Just move the remote around inside to wherever you want. Couldn't find anyone to do the install on-site. Did it myself pretty straightforward.

Is there a writeup somewhere with the schematic for the prewired second AC location? I bought the same AC unit which is a Coleman Mach 15000 BTU, Control Box and gateway and installed the unit already on the roof and now to do the wiring. Most of it is straight forward except a small black and white wire which I am assuming is the signal wire for the in command unit. the existing AC unit has a purpler and black wire, Thanks in advance for any advice and what not. I have watched a pretty good video on here but it is a little vague on the wiring. The camper is a 2022 Keystone Cougar 25 RDS
