Auto leveling jacks won't retract. Need to add hydraulic fluid but don't know how much to add since jacks are extended. I think the hydraulic motor is not working and I tried to do it manually, didn't work. One slide started going out while trying to retract jacks. Thanks for help.

You have to manually open the correct Hydac cartridge valve to get front LG and mid/rear levelers to move when using manual overide with a cordless drill

Lippert Link to explain manual overide process

IF you think the pump motor is not running when you select a function on the level up control panel then simply do these steps:
.. verify good battery power
.. check the resettable breaker located in the hyd pump compartment and make sure it has not tripped ( OEM ) breaker is a 50 amp and must be upgraded to an 80 amp or you will have issues

Simply video of mine to test operation of the pump motor and dual polarity solenoid that controls CW and CCW operation of the pump motor

** You can also operate the pump motor and manually open the Hydac valves with an allen wrench and operate the pump using a small jumper wire as shown in my video

I've tried to manually run the jacks but it doesn't work. I need to add some hydraulic fluid and see if that works. If not, need to check motor and pump. Never used a multi meter but will figure it out. I've tried each valve and nothing. For some reason one slide is extending and won't go back in. Thanks for the help.

If the reservoir is at least 1/4 full then there is enough fluid and adding more won't do a thing for your issue... you are not opening the correct Hydac valves ( one at a time ) to manually operate left and right mid / rear side levelers

There is only ONE hydac valve for ALL hydraulic slides... if the valve is open and you run the pump motor in the right direction then all hyd slides will close...

You have to turn the Hydac valve manual over ride screw CLOCKWISE to open it...

Then run the pump motor CCW to retract all hyd slides

Once that is done then close that hydac valve and preoceed to the mid/rear levelers

Open One and only one and then again run pump CCW to retract one side ( mid/rear) levelers. CLose the hydca valve and repeat for the other side

For Frt LG the hydac valve is located on the passenger side Frt LG

Manually open that valve and the run pump CW to extend jacks to get truck under the pin and then run pump CCW to lower fifth wheel to hitch up

I’ve attached a PDF from my Alpine showing you exactly where the Hydac valves are and explain exactly how to open each … one at a time

If you " have been there done that" and nothing moves then either the pump motor to pump coupler shaft is broken ( not likely ) or you ain't doing it right

Even if you had several of the levelers internally bypassing there would still be some movement of the levelers or the hyd slide outs

If the fluid leak is external then you would be seeing fluid dripping out somewhere from the coroplast , etc

You can use a gauge rated at 3000 psi and attach to the extend/retract side quick disconnect and run pump to see if pump builds pressure

PDF on how to do system pressure test .. last pages of the PDF.. also includes how to perform internal bypass test on cylinders

I’ve also added a pic showing the coupler shaft between motor and pump body
