Good evening keystone owners,
We have had our Keystone since 09ish. Nothing major has been wrong with it up until this past summer.
We were at an RV park and the slide switch stopped opening the slide. I checked all known fuses within the RV, all checked out. I looked under the chassis in search for an in line fuse. None to be found.
I was able to disconnect the wiring from the underside and place a battery directly to the slide out motor, and was able to get it back in so we could drive home.
when we get home, I again look for any blown fuses, inline fuses ect ect. All checks out, and cannot locate any inline fuses under the RV. I replace the Slide out switch in the trailer, still nothing.

Does anyone know where this infamous in line fuse may be hiding? everyone says I should have one, but cannot locate it. I have violated every undercarriage of that trailer and cannot locate anything. Or does someone trouble shot this type issue before? Any help would be great. I am getting tired of having to use a direct battery to get the slide in and out.

Thanks in advance.

There appears to be a 2005 Challenger 29RLS and a Hornet 29RLS. Makes sense to have a signature with your year, make and model and same for your tow vehicle. In additiion, fill out your profile. Knowing a bit about your rig or tow vehicle when you ask a question allows answers to have context.

Do you have a rocker switch on the wall to actuate the slide? If so, remove the switch plate and check voltage as the switch may be the culprit. I have an older 2002 Cougar 287EFS and there is no fuse for the slide. 12V to the switch and then wires carrying the 12V down to the slideout motor.

I'm not aware of any traditional in-line fuse, however, it's quite common for a self-resetting 12vdc fuse to protect these circuits. Follow the positive battery lead down to the frame rail of the travel trailer or inside the front compartment of a fiver. Typically you'll find a rectangle with 2 wire studs. It will look like a Lego block. They often fail after a few years and are easily replaced.

These fuses are available at most autoparts stores and of course at on-line stores. They come in different Amp ratings which can be found on the case of the fuse itself.

As Marshall posted, "follow the positive battery terminal cable toward the trailer"... It will be connected to the POS terminal on a series of small metal (or plastic) boxes. Those are the "auto reset circuit breakers"...

Here's what they look like. Wire colors may be different, some may have a plastic cover (usually red) but on many, the cover has fallen off or broken and is missing. The last photo is probably what you will find, a "corroded mess":

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I do have two of the "auto reset" reset fuses located about a foot away form the battery. I'll check those out.

I'll add my trailer details to the signature. That's a good idea. It is a Hornet.

Thank you all again. I'll update you all once I change the fuses. Question though, would everything else still work if one of those fuses fail? Because everything else is still operations.

Thanks again!

One of the circuit breakers is probably "dedicated to the slide motor" and the others provide power to different things in the trailer like the tongue jack, the power distribution 12volt fuse panel and if you have electric stabilizers, another one probably protects that system... So, yes if ONE (for the slide motor) is bad, the others can still be working properly, giving you power for lights, refrigerator, furnace, etc.... Think of it like ONE blown fuse in the fuse panel, all the other things will still work OK, but that one system is down. Same with the circuit breakers on the tongue.

Thanks for all the info guys. I appreciate it. I was able to find the two fuses near the batteries. I got the replacements, ended up being the wrong ones. I got the correct ones today, but in typical fashion, I forgot how they are wired. Does any one have a schematic or can tell me how their wired?
Thanks again.

Two terminals- should be labeled "bat" and "load"

Battery is from the power source
load is to the circuit
