It's not coastal, but Elijah Clark State Park is great!!!! Lake Thurmond usually has fireworks, BIG fireworks, on the water.
We love it there!!!

We camped at Jekyl Island last year on our way back from Disney and it was ok. If you go try to get the sites in the back at the curve. They are alot easier to get into. Just take bug repellent.

One warning, Coastal Georgia in the summer means No-See-Ums like you have never encountered. I have lived in Florida all my life and have encountered these creatures here but NEVER in the numbers and ferociousness of the ones in Georgia. Just saying, be prepared!

They are like really annoying, teeny tiny, mosquitoes. They can get into screens and bite you like a 'skeeter does. It truly is an annoying freak of nature.

The best thing I've found for No-see-ums is Avon Skin So Soft. They also have a new insect repellant with the same name (green bottle). We bought it last year, but didn't open it as we had some SSS left and didn't need the new bottle. In Upper Michigan, the No-see-ums are terrible also. We can actually sit in the boat and fish in short sleeves without being bitten. In fact, if the wind is blowing even gently, they don't even seem to fly around our face. Try it if you are headed to a known problem area.

As for getting through the screens. We never turn on the vent fans at night, it'll suck them right through the screen.

Georgia noseeums think of Avon skin so soft as a condiment while they devour you alive! Just trust me, you do not want to be in coastal Georgia above freezing temps. Fair warning, the last person who did not listen came back and told me they would never do that again or doubt me when I warned them of something.
