New Couger 318SAB
Hi Guy's and Gal's, My wife and I bought a new 2012 318SAB back in May and have used it 4 times since then. The last trip was 2,500 miles out to Chicago. We love it. I tow with a 2012 F250 V8, 6.2 10,000lb gross pkg, and the FORD 5th wheel tow pkg by Reese. We had no problems on the trip.

Now the question I have is where did you stay in the Chicago area? We love our 318SAB, best floor plan for our needs.

Where I stayed in Chicago area
We stayed at the KOA Northwest in Union IL. a great place new owners, large campsites. It was the closest we could find. Our son lives in the northern part of the city.It is about 1.5hr out right off I90. There is also one called Fish Lake about the same distance but it is not friendly to short stays. There is also one southwest of the city in Joliet Il. same distance to city in the south.it is at a Casino.

318sab
Having spent 234 days this year in our 318SAB, it is still a great layout and has worked very well for us. Problems? Yes, a few, but what doesn't have some?
Biggest complaint THOSE GOD AWFUL chairs! They weigh a million pounds and you have to wrestle them every time you close up (plus they are not that comfortable). With all the trailers and RVs out there you would think that someone would come up with a recliner chair with a light frame.
Otherwise, we love it!
John

Gary,
I am very familiar with all of the places to stay in IL near Chicago. Since I live an hour away and I would not stay in any of them. The closest we would every stay is at least 2 hours away in Milton WI or Hillside IL. I could not believe you found a camp ground near Chicago IL that was decent.

Camping in Chicago area
Jim, I have found that MOST!!! KOA's are well run, clean, and good sized sites. The one in Union,IL. was one of the better ones that I found and would recommend it to anybody that asked me. My son lives in Chicago so we will stay there when visiting with the RV.If you know a better one closer please let me know.
