I think that the new truck will be a good match with you 5th wheel, let us know how it tow, which I know that it will tow just fine.

For some reason those older 7.3's are worth big money, a friend of mine just sold his for 19K all the way to MO. I think his was an 02 also.

Oh, don't tell me that, lol. Best I could do with dealers around here was $6500. But I was lazy and didn't want to do a private sale. Worst part is my '02 was mint. But I was getting worried about it every trip.

I think the Ford 7.3 is like the Dodge (Cummings ) 12 valve diesels. They were pre emission and pretty much bullet proof.

Very true. I held onto my 97 F350 7.3 for some time after I got my 2011. Finally sold it to a friend since I wasn't driving it much. I mean, how many F350's can you drive at one time? Sold it for $9K with 250K miles on it, but it was well kept, everything worked, and the paint was still excellent. I could have gotten more I'm sure but I just picked a number and the guy worked for me.

My '02 7.3 had just 150k on it and the motor was still extremely reliable. My problems were trying to keep up with the New England winters and corrosion. I had replaced the bed, tailgate, rocker panels, cab corners and all four doors. But the rust kept coming everywhere else including brake lines, power steering lines and transmission lines. Once when pulling the camper the steering box let go and I lost power steering and the power assisted brakes. Luckily I was pulling into my driveway as it happened. Otherwise it could have been a serious situation. It was the fear that another issue could strand us someplace in the future that made me decide to trade the old lady in.

Sweet, recently had the same thought and went from my '03 6.0 to a '12 6.7. So far very happy with the decision, or at least less worried about travelling (even though, like you, I was over the top with maintenance and care of the '03).

My new to me 2016 F350 King Ranch Dually. Replaced my 2019 after it caught fire. Was nice though . The 2018 in my signature was traded in for the 19 dually.

Our two 3/4tons in the driveway with our slightly tongue heavy 2560RL peeking out past the garage. The now retired from towing flatbed is an '04 bagged CTD 4x4 with 17" rims that I was probably slightly over rated limits when towing. That steel flatbed is heavy. My wife dearly loves this truck and wouldn't let me trade it so now it's her grocery getter for a few years.
The white short bed is an '18 2500 4x4 gasser that I also put bags on but it really didn't squat much. My best change to it has been the Goodyear Kevlar tires.
2nd pic is the '18 on it's first tow a couple weeks ago. 9.5 MPG out with my foot controlling speed @ 65mph, 10.5 MPG back letting the cruise control handle speed @ 65mph.

So from your post about the TT looking nose high, it played on my mind for a while and I finally went out and double-checked the measurements myself.
Came to a dead-end as nothing seemed to mathematically add up.
I took both the TV and TT back to the dealer and had them check it for me. You were right, the TT was nose high.
A new longer drop shank and the setup is all now good to go.
