Around here, central Virginia, diesel is between 3.25 and 3.50 right now. One economist once quipped "the solution to high oil prices, is high oil prices", in that if there is money to be made, more supply will be brought in. The $80/bl cost will bring the shale and other idle frackers back online in time

When I was out and about today fuel prices around me were $3.39 for regular, $3.59 for diesel. Prices seem to change darn near hourly anymore. Some stations were charging as much as $4.15 for premium.

Basically the same as "the cure for inflation is inflation". Prices get high enough that folks stop buying it.

That may work for televisions and furniture, however when inflation hits necessities like food, utilities, medicine, not so much. Fuel prices effects everything, absolutly everything zs it's necessary to power all transportation from farm tractors to electric power plants and therefore will effect consumer costs across the board.

I find it interesting that when group A is in charge of the company for a certain period of time ( let’s say 4 years for an example) …that EVERYTHING bad that happens is blamed on them and their policies…the buck stops here motto
But when group B is in charge then all of a sudden it’s the private sector or the past CEO of the company or policies that were in place 2 years ago …etc etc …
It does help their “cause” that the majority of the news sources are on the side of group B
Not getting political. Just talking buisness practices

How about a non-political post?
"The specialized NASCAR fuel is Sunoco Green E15, a 98 octane, unleaded fuel blend specifically engineered for high-performance engines and race cars."

Good point, and I agree.
I was thinking more of a consumer perspective. Beef gets too high, I cut back and eat more pork. Fuel gets too high , I cut back and stay closer to home.
Wonder what the higher and higher fuel prices will do for RV sales?

Very subtle! One thing I noticed today when I stopped for GAS for my Goldwing trike at a QT station... the QT stations are popping up all over and seem to almost dominate the greater San Antonio area. I had never heard of this chain until recently. Anyway, they had non-corn gas (ethanol free). It was over $.30 a gallon MORE EXPENSIVE than diesel which is more expensive than premium. I think it was 37 cents a gallon more expensive than diesel but don't hold me as my memory fades at times. No wonder we can't afford to feed cattle with corn; they amount of corn in the gas is where it is going and farmers must be getting big bucks to sell to the gas companies.

A premium is paid for the corn to make ethanol to add to fuel that reduces the mileage of that fuel by about 10% & is detrimental to small engines.
Makes perfect since.............. apparently to someone?????

The first Quick Trip I saw was in Tulsa, maybe 10-12 years ago. Like you say they are popping up everywhere now. Kinda like Casey's General Store. I found 2 grades of non ethanol at Caseys near Emporia Kansas a few days ago. Today I needed more gas for the generators and drove all around Kansas Speedway looking with no results. Not even at Casey's.
I haven't seen that other Oklahoma convenience store expanding. Kum n' Go.
Betty rolls her eyes.

That's what I said when they began adding ethanol to the gasoline, that it was another farmer subsidy.
The idea was to add 10% ethanol in an attempt to conserve fuel thereby lowing dependence on fossil fuels, but by adding that 10% lowered the fuel mileage by at least 10% so in actuality increased the fuel consumption by 10%+. DOES NOT COMPUTE!
The same scenario is happening again now with electric vehicles. How do all of these people/states think electricity is produced other than wind & solar, which only account for about 10%, that would be natural gas another of the fossil fuel groups.

For some that have lost sight of the reality of the economic and environmental costs of solar/solar panels and wind turbines - it is enormous....we just get to say "we pay China to produce them and the carbon footprint to go with them" so it doesn't affect us..... A societal statement.
