Hello again all...
I have a new '21 Ford F-350 DRW KR. I'm 71 and am still able to do quite a bit of "stuff", but I can see a day when things might change a bit.
My concern now is this, on my RAM DRW and my Ford DRW, to lock/latch the B&W fifth wheel hitch, you have to pull the locking handle toward the driver's side to latch the pin in the hitch. The handle is usually swings toward the middle and sometimes it does not fully swing the lever closed when I back into the pin with the hitch.
All this time I've been putting my right foot up on the driver's outside rear dual tire and then pulling myself up with the box side and placing my left knee on the box side rail so I can reach in and grab the latch handle and put the clevis pin into the latch handle to lock it. At this time I also attach the safety breakaway cable.
I know there are the tubing folding steps that you can hook over the tire to stand on, but I was wondering specifically with guys with the Ford DRW trucks, do the front Ford or aftermarket swing out single steps that are placed under the box bottom, come out in the right spot so you could still reach the hitch lever/handle etc?
What are you all doing for this situation?
Thanks in advance.
Have a great week, Dan!
