Liquid in Ceiling Light

We are about to buy a 2021 Springdale 1750RD. When viewing, we noticed some liquid in one light situated on ceiling between kitchen area and bath. It was slightly colored orange. We asked for it to be inspected prior to signing and the technician has said it was condensation and that he did a sprinkler test and found nothing. It seems odd to us that condensation would only occur in one light. We are hesitant to sign and pick up without knowing if there is a leak. Any thoughts or advice? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum

I don’t know that I would take that unit. How much “condensation” did it have?

Thank you for responding.
It is a "push on" light and we didn't remove the cover but it was enough that when we pushed it moved around and was easy to tell it was liquid. It had a slight orange color which we were afraid was insulation coloring.

There is a roof leak and the water is following a truss and/or a wire. Tell the salesman thank you for his time and go someplace else.

Orange indicates rust I guess... what would rust in a bumper pull roof that would seep into the fixture I wonder. Odd. The number one issue any camper can have is a leaky roof so as has been noted, NEXT.

Take a pass on that one. I've yet to see condensation that came in colors.

I agree with Marshall--run, don't walk away from this one.

Good job on spotting it, some folks wouldn't think to look up at those lights.

BTW, welcome to the forum!

Please follow the advice you’ve asked for here. And, as was said, run not walk.

I had a similar experience..was ready to purchase a new 302rls. Decided to take one more look before I started the process with salesman..we noticed water on the inside of window frame in the kitchen, they had the trailer parked at a 45deg angle uphill. We looked further and found the water had been running behind cabinets and under the refrigerator..floor was soft discolored under the fridge..
That was the last one they had ,we jumped up a model to the 315rls instead.
In our case the salesman said we should pass on the 302 ...he claimed they would replace the slide floor and seal the window or roof before they sold it.
I would also run from your deal...you may feel like with the shortage of trailers you better jump on this trailer BUT if it takes a month or two more to find the right dealer and trailer it will be time well spent , if you have to deal with this one and roof leaks you could find yourself in a nightmare of warranty issues and your trailer spending more time getting repairs then actually using it. The water you see in the light is visible but it could be more damage in the ceiling that you can’t see..good luck

We (Georgia) are reopening today. As more states reopen, I would not be surprised to see the used RV market flooded very soon with gently or never-used campers. Pass on the one you know has problems.

Um, you're not running fast enough. Faster Forest!! (great catch BTW!)

I've seen residential insulation (think pink, panther, remember?) give rainwater a tint when it gets wet, and George is right, sounds like rust too. There are parts in that light fixture that could rust, not to mention any metal roof trusses from where the water may follow.

RUN!
Either seller is dishonest, selling as is or doesn’t know... whatever it is you don’t want to find out the why after you buy.
A sprinkler test proves nothing... it takes a while for water to soak and trickle into the lowest point... ruining other things along the soggy hidden way!

Good move on passing on this trailer. Not only would you have issues with the leaking roof, what if mold had already started to develop up in the ceiling?

The OP hasn't logged on for a week. Suspect she found a trailer of another manufacturer, etc.
