sub-woofers
Howdy All;
Have heard of the sub-woffers being tucked away in some unusual places...
I have a 2008 Couger 278RKS. Think I've explored every cabinet and access pannel... no joy
Where could it be ??????

In my Alpine it was in behind the fireplace.
You could also check under / inside your step leading to bedroom.
Another place to check is for a false bulkhead in the area of the TV.

We have the identical Cougar and I am sure there are no sub-woofers that are part of the stereo system. Maybe Rascal can sniff those woofers out if they are hiding somewhere.....aarff, aaarff!

Howdy All;
Just got done putting the step back together. No sub-woofer.
Did find where the heat duct for the bedroom vent makes it transition from below the floor to the basement. Wasn't a wasted trip, learned 2 things,
No heavy boomin' noises and where the ducting run is.

Hank,
If your ears can handle some volume, adjust your graphic equalizer to boost just the lows and minimize the highs. Then pick something really bassy that you can stand (I'd pick something from the 60's like Twist & Shout ) and turn the volume up a bit. You should be able to locate the sub-woofer by ear or feel.
Should work, in theory anyway.

I have been wanting to open my step as well but was afraid I would break it. It didn't want to come up easily. How did you do it?

therink, Howdy;
Like most stairs are assembled, generally the tread (horizontal),is put in first then the riser (vertical). To remove take the riser off first. I found (may be different the day they built yours), 5 screws (#2 square bit), there were 6 around the perimeter of the tread.
To replace put the tread down first then the riser. Careful not to over tighten the screws when putting them back in. Snug does fine.
Have fun...

Hank,
You ol' rocker! Just about any Iron Butterfly will do. I found that the "Iron Butterfly Theme " from the album Heavy does a great job of getting rid of mice!

What stereo is installed in your Cougar? My Cougar has the Jensen AWM970. This not a 5.1 surrond system (no woofer)

I looked at your owners manual and do not see a woofer connection in the wiring diagram.

EH -
I have an Alpine 3640. My sub-woofer is above the fireplace/TV behind the in the overhead cabinet. It is between the two access doors behind the material inset trim. Take a look up there.
