Smile RV Cover Replacement

Hi Folks,

We are pulling a 2015 Keystone Bullet Premier (26ft) with a GMC 1500 pickup. We just gave up on our iniial trailer cover of 3 years and have been shopping for a replacement. From what we see...many have bad reviews mixed in with some good. I am situated in the southwest..where heat is not that much of a problem for us...some wind gusts at times. We would like to keep the price somewhere between $300 to $400 if at all possible. Any one with good recomendations would be totally appreciated.

That money can buy a lot of quality wax. I doubt you’ll find a “quality” cover for the price your looking at.

You've spent $200-400 on a previous cover now looking to spend that or more again, put that towards a rv port if possible or a good wax job.

As I stated in my first response: a good coat of quality wax.

The problem with most covers is they flop in the wind and scratch the finish on the RV. Best solution in most situations is to put a good wax on it and park it. If you have room or a place to build something to park your RV into than that's the best you can do. I got a cover with my 34'er and I looked at that thing and wondered how I was going to get that thing on the roof. Then what if I got it facing the wrong way. I decided that there was no way I was going to lug that thing up there. I don't have the option of a covered spot so I just wax it with Nu- Finish and I'm done.

If you take the time to search “RV covers” here, you’d find an overwhelming number of responses just like the ones here. If you truly feel we aren’t helping you in any way, feel free to leave. No need to get offensive though.

Your original request was responded to (a "cheap" good cover). You then asked "what would you suggest", that was responded to. You then got a response advising the issues faced with using an RV cover and his response to "what would you suggest". All replies were intended to help and answer your questions. Instead, you became belligerent and offensive. No call for that.

As Chuckster noted, if you will do a search there are literally hundreds of posts on the merits of an RV cover, brands etc. You might have better luck there if you goal is to belittle anyone that tries to respond. If not, and you feel the forum isn't fulfilling your needs....you can leave.

The "cheapest good RV cover I could find in 2012, cost me $14,000. No heat, no concrete floor and no electricity.

The "best RV cover I could find today, is the same type structure (a 16' tall pole barn with a full height sliding front door). With heat, insulation, concrete floor and apron and 100 amp service, the price is running around $38,000.

What part of a "good cover" or a "best cover" can you buy for $300 or $400???

Maybe one of the windows or a couple sheets of the steel siding. Otherwise, for $300, you can't buy much of a cover.

The reason you're not getting a "brand name and model number" is because the majority of owners don't cover their RV and most believe that "any cover sold in an RV store is junk, regardless of price".

George, there are none that are any better than the others. You can probably find the best price for a cover online. When you find it, buy that one.

As you stated, there are those on here who love them and those who hate them. No one to my knowledge, and I read every post put on here, has said that X is the end all to end all of covers.

You could try going to a place that makes lumber tarps for flatbed trailers. They will custom make one that fits your particular dimensions. I wouldn't get anything that covers the whole unit, just the roof and down the sides a foot or two. If you find that too expensive, they usually have used tarps that you could simply cut out yourself to make it fit your camper.

Whatever you do, do NOT use a "blue plastic tarp" like HF or HD sell! They are very abrasive and hold in moisture. They will do much more harm than good.

George, try this site if you insist on covering your RV. They don’t seem to have a dog in this hunt
https://www.thedrive.com/reviews/29115/best-rv-covers
Now that you’ve gotten the answer you craved, I think I’ll just “move on” and forego any wise remarks.

I used this cover for 5 years before the UVs took its toll and the AC started playing peekaboo. I used tarp clips and rope from HF to keep it tight on the sides. No wind damage once so ever. I know it’s a VERY cheap cover but worked for us. I’m having a RV port installed in August to keep it out of the elements year round.
