Not Recommending this M.O. for a New Truck
December 16th my wife and I were hit in a glancing head-on collision, when a "distracted driver" swerved into our lane. Thankful to the good Lord, airbags and seatbelts that it was not worse. Jan took a beating from the airbag and was purple from head to toe for weeks! I got away with a cut/swollen knee and forearm.

There are distracted drivers in Oregon??
Even with all the black and blue, very lucky to mostly walk away. Nice new TV!

Yes it was totaled. They sent me a 22 page readout of all the parts & hourly rates needed to bring the truck back to proper working order. Once the air bags are deployed it is pretty much a given they will "total" your vehicle.

We are very fortunate for sure. I didn't mention... it happen in Southern California. We purchased in our resident state of Oregon, saving several thousands of dollars in taxes.

Good to hear you two were able to walk away and celebrate another Christmas together. HAPPY NEW YEAR takes on a whole new meaning.
Just lost an acquaintance in December to the exact same thing when they were traveling through Kansas to St. Louis.
To boot new vehicles are loaded with "distractions" now. They even put 12" computer screens so the driver has even more to think about in the cab.
Again, good to hear you are healing and that does look like a nice new rig.

Glad you are okay. Distracted driving is getting to be a much bigger problem than drunk driving was. I swear every time I go out I see someone texting and driving and numerous drivers talking on a hand held phones. It's getting bad.
With all the electronics available these day I don't understand why they can't disable hand held devices once the vehicle is put into drive mode. The one exception would be 911.
Btw, nice looking new truck.

Anyone know a good lawyer in El Paso Texas . I was T Boned Friday jan. 17, 2020 on my new F350 . It caught fire. I know insurance will take care of most of it but FORD should take some responsibility as I was almost trapped.. when someone spends over 80k , that's the last thing you'd expect. .

I'm sorry. Tboned in your new F350 and you want Ford to take some responsibility? I'm thinking I'm hanging the idiot that hit me (providing you were in the right) with a ball bat (figuratively speaking) but Ford....? Maybe it caught fire? Circumstances are 100% the dictator. Are you alive? Thank Ford instead of looking for someone to blame or sue.

Not blaming ford in that sense. Yes, thankful I'm alive. What I'm saying is this. Yes the truck did it's job to protect me on one hand. I didn't buy a heavy truck to trap me or my family , i bought it with the sense of being safe. I was hit on the passenger side and driver side caught fire inside of cab. I would like to know what would you do? Not trying to step on anyone's toes. I've owned 6 super duty trucks. 2002,2011,2013,2016,2018,2019

Yeah, E Rod, take a quick half a mil from a truck company maybe, while you're at it take another quarter mil from the person who hit you....these actins would only solve one thing: Your financial situation. In this world you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Guess (think hard) which you are.

I don't know what happened, how it happened, or honestly if it happened. The one thing I can tell you is this. If you talk to any personal injury attorney the first thing they will tell you is to not talk about the accident on social media.
This is not advice, just personal experience and common sense. JMHO

There is a recall on super duties (19S52) for the seat belts catching fire on the carpet when they do their job in an accident.

I wlll be honest. It's not about the money. It's about being safe. When you spend 80k on a vehicle. That's the last thing you'd expect. Maybe I'm wrong. I think the manufacturer could spend a few extra $ on some type of metal shield. And yes, it did happen. But at this time i don't want to post pictures. I will in the future after all is said and done. I have no reason to lie . Especially on this or any forum.

EROD glad to hear you escaped. Did the fire have anything to do with that recall?
Again, good to hear you are OK.

Right now i can not definitely say it was the seat belt. I didn't even know the truck caught fire. A man came to to door and i just heard him telling me to get out that truck was on fire. I couldn't see anyone as curtain airbags deployed . I apologize for limiting full details at this time.

I'm not accusing you of not telling the truth in any way. I'm just stating fact as I know it, i.e. I have no personal knowledge of the accident. Therefore, I cannot offer an opinion on what remedy, if any, you should pursue.

Nice truck I have the same but in the dark gray metallic. Have you towed your trailer with it yet? If so how does the Aisin shift for you under load? Specifically 2nd into 3rd gear. Mine bounces you while driving and I can not get Chrysler to even acknowledge the issue. Just wondering if this is normal. Thanks for any answers
