Is the price of diesel going up ?

Price of fuel has dropped out here on the left coast. Has me wondering what’s up.

$2.96 at Wawa $2.77 at Speedway in Venice FL. ... They said something about gas going up on the news but haven't noticed anything yet. Just the normal 2 or 3¢ fluctuation.

$2.71 - $2.99 Here in the People's Republic of Maryland. I use Gas Buddy to find the best prices, has been very accurate for several years that I've been using it.

Acording to gas Buddy fuel here in Livermore Ca is $3.63 to $4.39. Question is how much do you want to buy LOL

The "Energy Information Administration" (I didn't even know that agency existed) lists average US highway diesel history/projections this way:
Diesel (dollars per gallon)
2017 $2.65
2018 $3.18
2019 $3.06
2020 $3.09
They attribute the slight increase in diesel to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) which is another one of those, who knew they even existed...
Who knows where 2021 and later prices will be ???

Diesel prices out in Idaho and Montana vary quite often. Spring of 2019 thru Oct we saw average prices of 3.39 to 3.69... we did have a few months last year when it was 2.87 which was nice.
Currently floating around 3.29 except at Truck Stops and they are all .30 higher then local gas stations. I always buy at local pumps even when on the road traveling

The cost of fuel fluctuates when the refineries "change over" to produce "winter blends" and then again when they go back to "summer blends". I have no proof but it seems to me that the % increase is disproportionate between diesel and gas. I'm not a petroleum expert so I don't know if it's a cost difference in the additives or the process that is the cause.

I think they follow the Maryland blue crab pricing model. When fuel costs were thru the roof it was why the prices went up. Price of fuel went down, and crab prices stayed up.
When it rains it's too much fresh water in the Chesapeake bay prices go up. When it doesn't rain the bay water is too salty and the prices go up. Last spring, the DNR (department of natural resources) said the crab population was higher than ever and they should be plentiful over the summer.
Guess what? Yup, the prices went up. I guess it's like the "temporary tax" to fix _____ you fill in the blanks. That never goes away either.
