Is there anyway to turn off the annoying LCD on the stupid radio? Yes, I have read the manual no luck

Welcome to the forum from Kansas City, MO! Glad you're here!
In answer to your question, some on here have put black electrical tape over it. Not perfect but it works.

The spouse put a switch in the panel above, as on our Jensen, there is no actual "off" switch.

I put a piece of Velcro on the top edge of the radio and hung a black wash cloth over the face and the remote still works.

Does anyone just pull the face plate off. Maybe not all are made that way.

At night I put a piece of cardboard over it using painters tape. You could also install a separate switch on the power line for the radio.

Some of the older Jensen units did have a dimmer control in the menu setup. A few models from the competition also had that feature. In more recent models from all manufacturers, that feature apparently was deemed to be "not cost effective" or "no longer necessary". For whatever reason it seems to have disappeared from the "new and improved models".....

On most units, installing a switch on the power input will also remove any memory features such as presets, balance and face settings, clock, alarm, etc. For many people, these settings are never used, so it won't matter. For someone who does use the clock or alarm, completely powering down the unit at night isn't an option, since the alarm wouldn't function in the AM.... For someone who does use the "menu features", going through the setup, selecting memory stations, resetting tone and balance controls makes it a "non-player"...

So, "hiding the glare" becomes the objective. Tape over the faceplate, maybe a "clinging film" similar to the old vinyl sunscreens used along the top of a windshield, a cover, as simple as cardboard and painter's tape or as elaborate as a picture frame on hinges that swings down from the top or from the side to cover the stereo while not in use??? There are some good ideas here, and I'm sure more to follow, but installing a power switch may not be an option for some.

I wish the manufacturers of these electronics (and many other products) would "really improve them" with their "upgrades" rather than seemingly always approach "improvements" as a means to increase their profits, often at the expense of making the item less usable by the end consumer.

In my Hideout 177LHS i have the same radio, thought why would they keep it glowing like that.. I noticed it but never thought of doing anything about it or looking for a dimmer in the radio menue.. black tape sounds
like a good cover.

The added power switch works for us because the only thing I ever use the unit for is to play music (although those are TERRIBLE speakers in stupid places). I either use bluetooth or the AUX feature with a line in.

Before our most recent trip I bought much better quality portable speaker and we used that instead and never even turned the power on. I may have the spouse take the entire Jensen unit out, as I'd much rather have a shelf there.
