Hitch possible

Wondering if the frame on my Passport 2670bh is strong enough to allow welding a hitch on in order to tow my golf cart.

Since your trailer is a bumper pull, it's not legal to tow another trailer or vehicle behind it.

You would have to use a cargo rack of some nature and drive your golf cart up on it. That's putting a lot of stress on the frame. I wouldn't do it. Probably void the frame warranty too.

Check with your DMV but I think Chuckster is right. You can only tow behind a fifth wheel due to the hitch set up.

Yes, that is correct in my state. I border Iowa though and also store my trailer there. Many states do allow it including Iowa.
So, armed with that info, does anyone know the answer to my original question?

I would take it to a trailer/oilfield/fab shop. Have them give it a looksee..... They deal with this type of stuff all the time and would be able to give you an opinion.

As mentioned, check with a good fab shop. I'm guessing your golf cart/trailer combo is probably in the 1,500-2,000 lb range with somewhere around 200 on the hitch so it doesn't take much to tow that. Realistically you only need a class II hitch and that will give you excess rating. My guess is that it would be, but I'm NOT an engineer or metal fabricator that can determine the stresses ad capability of the frame.

And yes several states allow towing behind a TT, but the 3rd vehicle must be lighter than the 2nd and the combination still needs to be under the TV GCWR.

We want to be able to take our golf cart too, but we are looking at upgrading our truck to one that we can put the golf cart in the bed of the truck to take with us.
