Starved Rock State Park, Ottawa IL

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip in the early part of August to Starved Rock in Ottawa, IL. I'm looking to see if anyone has stayed here before and can suggest a few good sites I can try and reserve from. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have camped in the area but not at the state park. My DW likes full hook ups and most IL state parks do not offer full hook ups.
We have camped in Utica IL, at both the KOA and at Hickory Hollow camp grounds, both of these camp grounds have full hook-ups. The KOA has narrow sites but typical for KOA. The Hickory Hollow camp is near RT 80 and you might hear truck noise all night depending on were your site is.
We usually camp at one of these two camp grounds in late April or early May for our first camp out of the camping season. This is to make sure everything works after winter storage of the camper and we our close to home if we have an issue.
I would go on line to this site and read the reviews for the state park and other camp grounds in IL.

If I'm not mistaken, the park does have full hookups. I tried booking there for this upcoming weekend but they are full.

From the state site:
"The campground has 133 Class A-Premium campsites, 100 of them reservable, complete with electricity, showers and flush toilets, a separate youth group camping area and a children’s playground. Permits may be obtained from the park office or at the permit booth in the campground area. Seven campsites are accessible for people with disabilities. Two handicap sites are available to reserve."

My wife does not consider flush toilets as full hook-ups. We have camp at some of IL state parks in the past and even looked at the Chain of Lakes state park last year. The Class A site are usually 30 Amp electrical and running water at the site. Down the road will be the dump station to empty your black and gray water tanks. I could be wrong maybe the state has put in a sewer system in the past, that I do not know about.

Jim,

I couldn't say either way. I do know we were looking for something local for our first trip and the lil woman called there. We couldn't reserve because they were full. However, I cannot imagine she would have considered the State Park if it didn't have water & electric per site. I'll ask her later tonight.
