2020 Chevy HD's

I've read this several times. If your thinking about a 2020 Chevy HD, be aware that even though it say's Allison on the hood logo, it is NOT an Allison transmission. It's an Allison APPROVED GM transmission Apparently Allison had nothing to do with this GM transmission in as far as design etc, Allison ran the GM transmission through a series of test and gave GM the okay to put the Allison Name on it, which to me is misleading as all get out. How many unscrupulous salesmen are going to tell you that little tidbit?

Wasn't that transmission a joint GM/ford venture?

I don't honestly know. GM is still saying Allison on the hood logo. To me that is misleading.

From their website it states: 'The Allison branded automatic transmission, manufactured by General Motors'

So it is a GM product. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this.

I'm not about to lose any sleep over it but in my opinion it's misleading, that's all

This might clear things a little, but not much. Not for big haulers.
On edit: Am I the only one who isn't interested in having my TV shifting every time there is a slight slope in the highway? 6 gears is simply enough, I don't care, unless you're a serious trucker and in need of it.

If Allison gave them the ok to put their name on it I'm sure it was vigorously tested by them and they had a hand in the design.

Yeah, I can't imagine Allison putting their name on a product they didn't have a significant say in designing. The negative PR that would come if they just lent the name out to GM to use without serious oversight/involvement and the transmissions were pure garbage, or even worse, dangerous, could bankrupt them. It seems highly unlikely they would go for that without being seriously involved.

Will the "Allison" 10-speed be derived from the Ford/GM 10-speed though? Or are they two completely independent 10-speed designs? Because if the 3500HD Duramax and the Suburban share a transmission.....I will be kind of disappointed!
