Keystone Raptor hidden door in bedroom

We have a 2015 Keystone Raptor 5th wheel and we just noticed that in the master bedroom on the right hand side down in a cubby what looked like a piece of plywood covered in carpet I went to lift it and it's a secret door that opens up into the cargo bay. Does anyone know why this was placed here and what its purpose is?

Is it factory cut or previous owner cut? Any chance it is handy enough to be a laundry drop?

I saw a 5er this weekend at the RV show that had said door . I remember because it caught my attention and when I stuck my hand through from the outside I scared a lady inside. [emoji23] I don't remember what trailer it was but, thought it very peculiar. It must have a purpose.

I have a 2016 Carbon. The door you are asking about is a laundry chute. It does seem a bid odd, but I have found it handy for other things!

My unit has an access door next to the bed into the front pass thru, and I always said it was a good idea to put a small cooler in there in case I needed a late night beer and didn't want to get out of bed.

I know in '07 most Cougar 5th wheels came with a laundry chute like you mention. We kept a collapsible laundry basket under it and it saved space in the bedroom.
It also came in handy when the door lock broke in the locked position. (recall) I got the neighbor's 7 yr. old to crawl in and open the door from the inside. He had a ball pretending he was on a spy mission.

Our Cougar 5ver has a lift up door above the step into the bathroom hall covered in carpet for a laundry chute. We put a basket in the pass through basement and dump dirty laundry in there rather than keep it in the cabin or bedroom.

We also have a 2015 Raptor (ours is the 300MP), and I'm intrigued -- is the piece of plywood in the closet, or is it on the floor by the bed? I've never noticed it . . . would you happen to have a picture of its location? Maybe it's just your model?

Our old 291RLS, had the Laundry Chute hatch, right at top of the steps, which opened to the storage area.

We never used it as a laundry chute, but did put some items we wanted occasionally. Never showed the kids, afraid they'd be crawling through it all the time!

We have a similar trap door at the top of the stairs in our 2012 Keystone Montana 3150RL. It came with a wire laundry basket that fit very snugly in the opening. I always thought it was a bit odd, but it was also identified on the floor plan, so that's what it is! What happened to your wire laundry basket?

I'd VERY much like to see pics of this in case we have one.

My wife and I have a '19 Carbon 337 ... which may or may not include this option (not sure). I did a bit of hunting but found nothing.

Laundry drop. I built a wood box attached to the bottom of it and keep secret things in there. I added a hidden nail that pulls out from the front side that locks it closed. Good place for weapon, etc.

Bedroom trap door

My Raptor also has the trap door in the bedroom. I remember hearing it was a laundry chute, to drop dirty clothes into a laundry basket in the storage compartment. This does make sense with the exception that the plumbing for the RV washer/dryer is also in the bedroom.

We have a 2011 bullet premier 19fbpr. It has a Laundry shoot listed next to the front queen bed. It opens down to the front pass through cargo hold. They have been around for a long time.

Laundry Chute

I have also heard of this being a place to put a litter box for your cat. Help keeps the smell out of you TT.
