Camco inline filter DRIP DRIP

We use the Camco inline water filters; use the 8" long male to female adapter with the yellow tightening fitting. Put these on the water spigot in a camp ground. These things DRIP DRIP DRIP and new washers don't help a bit. I get the yellow tightening fitting as tight as I can and DRIP DRIP DRIP. Anyone use this filter system and figure out how to stop the dripping?

Get a new adapter, the end of it is probably dinged..

Those connection hoses from Camco are about as cheap as they come. I'm not a big fan of the "disposable" in line water filters either. IMHO a good canister filter with a stand or wall mount will take the strain off of the hose fittings. Just do a search on potable or drinking water safe hose and you can find them in short lengths. Brass fittings are best and will last for many years.

Next time you're in Walmart getting the Camco filters pick up one of these for about $35 with a 2 pack of filter cartridges for $10-12 instead, much better filter & if installed correctly won't drip.
I had 2 of these, one on either side of my RV water softener mounted in an old milk crate. Ahead of the softener had a sediment cartridge, the one after had a charcoal cartridge, we had great tasting clear soft water everywhere we hooked up or ran it through this setup to fill the fw tank.

To add to this, if you don't use it for a couple of weeks drain and pull the filters out, put them in a freezer bag and store them in the fridge at home. If you do this they'll last about 6 to 8 months unless you get into some really bad water..

This setup ain't cheap initially but I've had it in use for 8 years now. I replace the cartridge at the start of the season and have never had a drip or leak. A lot of folks filer the water ahead of the hose but I like to have the filter as close to the inlet as possible to filter out any contaminants that may accumulate in the hose in between trips.I have the regulator on the filter and the way the filter is supported I don't see any evidence of stress. The hose to the faucet is a never kink 5/8" hose so no flow restrictions. YMMV

Have you tried the orange teflon tape? Blue is supposed to be really good.

George, I used those for years and was always either finiggling how to stop the leaks or take the strain off the side of the RV. This year I moved to these items:

I use a 4' hose from the trailer to the filter on the ground under the trailer. No more strain and no leaks. I was worried that I might want to get a more expensive type of filter but so far out of a few months use consecutively it seems to work just fine. Just another option.

If you are just trying to fix the leak you may just need to keep trying those 8" adapter hoses. I've got about 4 of them in my "water box", 3 of them have the ears all chewed up from being twisted on by my water pump pliers.

Don't have much room in my 5ver (27') for the water filters suggested and don't want to hang a filter on the outside of my camper. I think I will buy a 3' water hose from Amazon and get rid of the Camco abomination. Thanks wg

I use a brass 90° fitting at the connection point on the trailer and the filter hangs straight down from that and then the potable water hose runs to the pressure regulator which is attached to the park water supply. I replace the filter once per season and never had any dripping issues st any of the connections
