2021 Avalanche 390DS Equalizer Leveling System

Not a happy camper...went load up my 5th Wheel for an Independence Day trip and my leveling system is inop. All of the lights are illuminated on the control panel. Thought it was a bad battery so I installed a new one...no joy...reset all of the fuses...no joy...checked all of the fuses all good...no joy...took the control panel out and disconnected it for 10 mins reinstalled...no joy...

Called tech support...no one is home...not at Equalizer, not at Keystone, not even goodness from my extended warranty folks...ticked off to say the least.

I think the control panel is the failure point but looking for others with exp as this is my first 5th Wheel and first time with this issue.

Thanks,

Carmel

First, welcome to the forum and sorry for your trouble. I’m no expert on the leveling systems and I believe yours is hydraulic. I think there are a few possibilities, one of which could be a faulty control board and the control panel. Hopefully it’s neither. I know that the hydraulic system comes with a 50amp resettable fuse (?) that should be swapped out for an 80amp. I’m not sure your symptoms point to that. Have you checked all of the connections? Are you on shore power? If not you should be. Hopefully Chuckster, or one of the other more knowledgeable folks will chime in

Thanks for the response.

My RV is in a storage lot so not on shore power. Swapped out a new battery and also had it hook to my truck 7pin connector to help as well. No joy.

I do not remember seeing a 50amp fuse...yes it is hydraulic...I will look and see if I can find a video on where that fuse is located. Why does it need to be changed to an 80amp? I assume it trips a lot just want to make sure I don't make a bad situation worse. Thanks again for the help...

You say you disconnected the control panel. The panel is not the brain/control board, it is simply the switches. You can try resetting the system by disconnecting all power from the control board. You pretty much did that when you swapped the battery (unless you were also plugged into power). I’d try it again just to make sure.

The Equalizer leveling system is similar in nature t’ the Lippert system and that’s about it…

If you are getting no response from the control panel then locate the Hydrauilc pump and motor and check the connections on the reversing solenoid.l

I do not think your issue is with the OEM resettable breaker on your RV… if it was a Lippert system then maybe yes..

Equalizer hydraulic company has some Generic manuals and TS info but nothing specific to Keystone installation

And when you get in touch with Keystone they will tell you they have no documentation. And Equalizer systems will tell you that Keystone bought the system from then and they have no idea of how it’s installed

And YES.. I have an email from Equalizer and Keystone both making these stupid statements

Wishing you great success with your problem

Thx. Not sure where the control panel is but will look around. It is interesting that with the battery switch off and the inverter off the lights are still on the controller...was thinking that it might be a grounding issues as it should not have any power...just a though thx again
