Hot water heater

We are having to replace the initial IW60RL with the IW60 bc we cannot find the previous one. The IW60 does not have the recirculating inlet. After ALOT of reading, everyone is saying that is no big deal, just to cap the recirculating water line off. What size cap and where does the water go. Our tankless hot water heater in our keystone alpine busted this weekend. Thanks for any and all help

Pretty much every RV uses 1/2” pex. Your local big box hardware store should carry what you need.

I think you showed great constraint on not commenting on the term: "Hot Water Heater".

I was tempted, VERY tempted to mention that.

However, there is a fine point to note in this case; since it is a demand water heater with a recirculation loop, technically he is (re)heating hot water as opposed to the rest of us who just have a water heater.

That being said, I need to go un-thaw something for dinner……

Hate to repost but my recirculating pump cracked in my tankless water heater. Saw a post by Chuck who recommended replacing with a non-recirculating type, 5286A. Came in today. Do I understand correctly that I just cap off the recirculating line? Where does that line go? Is there any water pressure going into that line from the hot water line or did the pressure get generated by the recirculating pump? Appreciate any help or clarity. Thanks, Larry

IW60 Water Heater

Fortunately I didn't have a control switch problem. I did have a gas leak due to not using Rectorseal 25790. Didn't take much to fix the problem but I learned an important lesson. Good luck with the switch. You might check the Alpine forum, Chuck Steed has been really helpful with Alpine RV issues.

Any advice to someone about to replace water heater with tankless? Will a electric one mounted under kitchen sink work ok for small family in 5th wheel permanently set up with full power hookup?
