Propane Regulator Replacement Suggestions?

I have a Springdale 2021. The propane regulator seems to not work. I am looking for a reliable one that will allow me to draw off both tanks at the same time. Anyone have a suggestion? I am in search of reliability.

Marshall Excelsior makes arguably the best units. Why do you need it to pull from both tanks at the same time?

I guess I don’t really need it to pul from both. I really just want one with a reliable gauge. The factory one seems to no longer work and is unreliable at best.

Factory regulator isn’t a gauge, the “window” indicator is either green or red. It will show green until the cylinder is empty and then turn red.

You should have an automatic switchover regulator. Turn both cylinders on and point the to one of the cylinders. The window will be green as long as there is propane. It will turn red and the regulator will automatically start drawing from the other cylinder.

Simply move the pointer and the window will turn green and you can take the empty off, fill it. Re install it and turn it back on.

I get what you are saying. I turned the regulator to draw off a tank I know is empty, purposefully. The indicator still shows green. So to be more precise, I want a regulator with an indicator that is accurate. The indicator on this regulator does not work.

Did you turn on the stove and try to light a burner?

No. I just connected the regulator to an empty tank, and it shows green.

I guess it’s personal choice. With my tank cover on I can’t see the indicator, so I have never cared. I only have one tank on at a time; when gas stops flowing, I reach in and switch to the other tank, then get the empty one filled when I get a chance. After camping so many years I know my usage rate and have a good comfort level in doing it this way. YMMV

Ditto Marshall Excelsior. But just connecting to the tank doesn't always give you a correct reading until you turn something to reduce line pressure.

It may have had enough to trigger the indicator, but I’ll vote for Marshall excelsior.

You need to get a new Marshall Excelsior and replace what you have. You are not going to be able to trust what you have from your comments so no sense worrying all the time about it.

You don't have a model listed for your trailer so don't know what you have but sounds like you have 2 tanks. I use the MEGR 253H (high output) and they have the regular MEGR 253. Either should work satisfactorily unless you are running some high lp usage items.

I leave both tanks open and the lever pointed to the tank being used. When it turns red I turn the lever, refill the tank and replace then repeat. My last TT had them under the cowl so just popped the cowl and looked at the indicator. I've had the regulators do weird things but never had one show green when a tank ran out.

I'm thinking you have to have something trying to draw from the empty tank (stove, furnace, etc.) before the indicator would turn from green to red?

Is it possible that the OP has a faulty regulator (WIC RV Reg Model 6020) that was part of the massive recall? If yes then the attached provides the replacement regulators approved by Keystone.

I replaced mine with a flame king from Amazon and have had no issues. This was in April of 2022.
