What the heck?????
OK, I like looking at trucks, trailers, for fun, kill time, better than watch the NEWS
Anyway, I saw this real great looking RV and with the quarter of mil I found in the couch cushions, I thought, hey, why not

Now look here at the yellow sticker, am I reading this right, you can only carry 700 plus pounds MORE in this rig?

And most of that will be taken up with water if added. Sounds very limited in load capacity.

These things are all over the place. Take a truck chassis, make it as "fancy" as you can and sell it for the "bling" folks see. Far too many go for that, just like in trailers and tow vehicles, and they never see, know or care about the weight limitations. That's a lot of "RV" to build and stuff on top of a mid weight truck chassis....enough payload for the driver and spouse.....and a couple of sandwiches. No matter, you will see them loaded to the gills, kayaks on the top or back, bikes on the back....on and on.

GVWR of that F550 is 'only' 19,500 lbs - but at a factory weight of 18,703 that must be one heavy camper body. Maybe that's unusually heavy. If not, there are sure a helluva lot of overloaded 30' F450 Class C's rolling down the road. That heavy a rig would be better served as a 'Super C' built on a Freightliner chassis.
On the bright side, the GCVWR is 40K - you can always tow a pick up truck behind you loaded with everything else!

This is something many people miss when searching for an RV, be it a 5th wheel, Travel trailer or MH. I have seen many 40’ 5th wheels with less than 2,500# of payload, even 40’ TH with less than 3,000#, just doesn’t make sense.

Looking at the Jayco site it appears the one OP posted about is considered by Jayco to be their unique "off road" 4x4 type motorhome. The F550 has a gvwr of 19,500 and if you got the F600 you get 21,000. That build type left it with a whopping 797lbs of payload with the F550.
But for me, who needs or wants to take a 300k motorhome boonie bashing?? Sounds like a really bad idea. Heck, when we're throwing around that kind of money let's just kick in another 19k and go ahead and get the Super C (2 wheel drive Freightliner chassis). It gives you a 29k gvwr! NOW you can add some pots and pans and DW's shoe collection!!

Well let's not jump to conclusions about the manufacturer.....
If you read the yellow sticker further, you can see they are concerned about safety, as they have supplied SEAT BELT seating for 8 occupants, at lets see, that works out to just a little under one hundred pounds each, nekked

looks like Jayco is trying to get some of Earth Roamers customers…the base model starts at over $700,000…but they said to figure on $800,000 with standard options.
they go for over $1.6 million on the bigger models…
they use military wheels and tires and a custom air suspension and i guess certify the builds to be more robust and probably larger payloads.
All carbon fiber shells which cuts down on weight and lowers the center of gravity i guess
so you can buy Jayco’s model and sorta look the part for much cheaper…Jayco uses a stock chassis and just throws a bunch of suspension parts on it slowly whittling away at the payload it seems.

Here is our truck camper we built. We use this in the spring and fall due to temps. Also great when we take our bass boat with when we go camping.
